Luckily both my big 9-1 dogs are still alive. But I am not about to hedge out. I am thinking US-8 and Lit-6 +/- 1. Thoughts and impressions would always be appreciated...Best Wishes...OF

Well on the money with US line, - 7 1/2. But Lith laying a large 9 1/2, they have been a covering macine, and blow losers out. Lines pretty much painted at this juncture, with some tweeks on juice. Must recap these games as passing on Spain saved me a lot, plus 4 faves covering was not condusive to my profitable dog style. Best Wishes...OF

kermit,

I must admit I was shocked when you posted in my thread yesterday that you 'passed' on the SPAIN game... I had remembered you posting that fading this USA team was a money machine for you & especially when going against a quality team like SPAIN... In addition I remember the line opened up at -5 & then you said in the other thread "CAN WE GET 6?". Then the line moved to 7 & you chose not to play???????????

seems very very odd to me.....

would have apreciated a post to let us know you were not on the game as I had assumed it was an obvious play for you...

cheers

Yes, I also stated I must cap the game. I also passed on Angola, stating if the US team could beat anyone by 25, Angola would be it. I knew the first few games the US was way overated, number especially. But unlike Lith thread, where I said, I am on +3 and $L heavy, I just never played Spain. After I capped it I called my players immediately to get them off. I was alarmed at the obvious, as in blatantly obvious help from officials. As with NBA, I cap all angles, all matchups. Spain was the best matchup for US. If I do not flat ass say, I am on it, assume nothing and/or ask. Savant, when a team loses vs. the number 4 consecutive times, it is rare to find value against them for the 5th loss. Plus now I have a slight problem with my 9-1 on Argentina and Lithuania. Was in similar position with Motown, and bet them every game. Right now I am thinking Lith/US rematch for gold. Interested on second opinions, as Mr. Jones and Green Doberman seemed to be in tune with this also. You know me Savant, I would never want to mislead you. I even cameback and posted one time to get you off an early position that was a middle shot I thought you had played as a play. To tell you the truth, I was leaning towards Spain until I capped it. Good job on your middle shots. You will do well longterm with those numbers and strategy. I saw Ritter is -2.00 at Oly, from +1.25. If you ever in doubt about something, please feel free to ask. Thanks...OF

Forget all that. I should have cameback and posted I was passing. No excuses. My bad. But as offered, feel free to ask. It was one of those "Oh shit, better get my players off", panic modes.

We must be on the same page because I did the same with both Angola and Spain. Looking hard at today though.

All I need to know is can Argentina shoot from the perimeter and will they play zone defense against the USA. If the answer is yes, then +7.5 is plenty.

USA has all the momentum in the world and the best coach on the planet. now that they understand that there are just 2 games to glory, its academic. theyll throw away the playground im a million times better than you crap and get it done. these guys have been playing ball all of their life, much like their loser counterparts just the USA is more athletic.

It took an extraordinary effort from US squad, especially from 3 pt line to cover. In my opinion at this juncture, I think ARG matches up way better than Spain. Way, way better. Plus they defend better. That 7 point 2Q was ugly, but otherwise they always come to play. They were flat vs. Spain, coming off revenge 1 pt Ginobili miracle, and were emotionally drained. I am finalizing my decision as we speak. Learn my lesson from Savant, will post one way or another this time. You tell me Ted, will they zone up? Best Wishes...OF

They may, but once the game begins the fundamental play controls the outcome. The USA has still not looked that impressive on how to attack the zone defense properly either by passing or penetration and their perimeter defense against the outside shooting still leaves a lot in doubt. Individually they may be more talented, but playing together as a team is a whole different matter. Just a thought. Could they possibly come out not in full stride because they could be looking past Argentina towards Lithuania?

if USA just plays a decent game (what they hadnt been doing until now) they will succomb to the talent level they are facing and be done. it isnt hard to take an artsy fartsy team out of their sync when you are head and shoulders better at nearly every position.

I have seen all the USA games and have a good sense on where they are weak, but I have not watched a lot of the other teams, particularly Argentina. When you say they match up well with the USA better then Spain, what is your reasoning? Back to my original question but I'll ask you as I feel you have see Argentina. How good is their outside shooting, do they play a solid zone defense, and is their rebounding and team height equitable with the USA. Therein lies the answer today. Guide me with your thoughts on Argentina and I think we'll have the answer.

Starting to lean toward Argentina primarily off of their effort against Italy and somewhat their effort against Greece. Noted the defensive nature of the games. The USA team is one that wants to play in transition but struggles in the half court. Their defense still is giving up way too many points. Defense and pace control games by dictating tempo. If this game is in the 70-80 point range, edge to Argentina plus the points to keep it close. OF, waiting for your thoughts.

OMT- I would have to agree with you. I think the United States win a very close one. I see them winning by 2 baskets. Argetina +7.5 looks good.

I am buying +7 1/2+ juice and +8-.10. I see a defensive struggle, much lower scoring than Spain game. Yes, Argentina is similar to PR with zone d. Not so much on 3 pt shooting, as they tend to take them only if wide open, or needed. Let us keep it close. Best Wishes...OF

No $L as I already have them at 9-1 to win it all. But a solid B play with points.

as usual, it looks like the Mountain/Pacific Time Zones will be fucked out of live coverage. NBC likes to show us things an hour late, like that works with sports for gods sake.
