Certainly it's hyped about winning the championship, in whatever sport/ game. I'm sure many athletes are true to this.

I have a contrarian view. I say some jocks don't care, and are only concerned about their contracts.

Did Mo Vaughn care about winning ?

If I won the WSOP, I wouldn't give a shit about about the damn bracelet ! I'd want my 2-5 million. I don't wear jewelry. I don't even own a watch ! I don't even wear my wedding ring !

I say, some athletes, don't care about winning, they care about money ! Of course , there are many exceptions, likely most pro atheletes.

Personally the money from winning WSOP, would be far more important, than than a bracelet, I'd never wear. I'd sell the trinket on E-bay or something, or just give it away. Winning the event would have meaning, beyond financial, but I wouldn't wear it, even if I had 10 of them !

There is no question a much higher percentage do not care about championship rings...

What I always notice when you look back at NFL Films of the championships of the 60's-70's those guys acted like it was life and death...I believe they really despised each other on the field and even off in many cases... You don't see that now, and partly because players do flip flop around alot...

Just watch some of the old Super Bowl highlights, it was like life and death! It was great stuff....One in particular is Colts - Dallas, Super Bowl V , you watch that film and you come away thinking this was the last game these guys ever played, and they were going to live or die on the outcome ...It had that feel to it, and partly because of the way NFL Films presented it (genius presentation)

You won't ever see that kind of passion drenched all over the field again IMO!
