Dear Valued Client,

We regret to inform you that as of Sunday August 29th, Bowmans will no longer be accepting wagers on Horse Racing from any North American Tracks.

While we realize that many of our loyal customers enjoyed the ability to wager on horse races, unfortunately situations beyond the control of the company have caused this decision to be a necessity.

Bowmans sincerely apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause you and regrets having to make this change at this time. We hope you will continue to use our other services such as Sportsbook, Casino and Live Poker and take advantage of our current offer of a 20% reload bonus for football season, which runs through to September 30th.

We look forward to being of service to you throughout this upcoming season and beyond and wish you the best of luck.

Kind Regards,
Bowman International Sports Limited

I think some of these rebate clearing house shops are re-negotiating their business with these off shore books. It may cause a few more to give up the horses.

Nobody with a fraction of a clue would have been playing horses with them anyway, with their chickenshit, pussy limits and no rebate...

Stop taking horses? ITs the best deal out there for off shore places. With track take out in the pari mutuals Its like dealing a 35 cent line hundreds and hundreds of times a day. Everybody I know loses long term in horses.

try - if this were true, no shops would have limits on bets, payoffs, or other anything else...however, the offshore books are absolutely terrified of the sharps in horses and cap payoffs, wagering amounts, etc...

I agree with you that the take is outrageous in horses, but most books aren't going to write enough square action to counter the sharps that play offshore...there's just not enough volume on horses for most books to spread the risk...

Horse racing is better than slot machines, how can a joint lose holding horse wagers? I would guess 99.9 % of races have no true inside information or FIXes. Id love to hold horse race WIN PLACe SHOW wagers at track prices for anyone how wants to bet them.

You ought to move to LV and give it a try then - you'd be the 1st success story...several shops use to try to book horses in LV w/out the parimutuel pools, and they were absolutely destroyed by the sharps...that's why only parimutuel wagering exists on horses in LV...

Good points. i think Im just wrong on this feeling and I have to adjust my thinking on non parimutual wagering possibilities.

Some questions about horses:

1) Is horse racing considered easier to fix than sports (and thus a higher risk)?

2) Is there too little betting on multiple sides to balance each other out and minimize losing situation for the book?
Even though you may have more on one side than the other, a book can move the line on a football game to balance out the action. In horses you might get stuck with a lot of sharp players, and not enough squares to make it profitable.

3) Are horses easier to handicap than sports, if you know what you are doing (and thus more risk from sharp players)?
