Hurricane Frances is seen over the Atlantic Ocean in this NOAA satellite image taken on Wednesday.

MIAMI (AP) - Florida State and Miami may have to wait a few days before playing their season opener.

School officials were strongly considering postponing the game five days from Monday to Sept. 11 because of Hurricane Frances. They were expected to announce a decision Thursday.
"We'd like to play it, but I'm not sure it's in the cards," Florida State president T.K. Wetherell said Wednesday.

Wetherell said evacuations along Florida's east coast would cause travel problems for fans, band members and others heading south to the Orange Bowl. The hurricane also could be moving through Tallahassee on Sunday or Monday.

"I'm not sure we want to be gone with all that going on," Wetherell said.

I predict a southern swing South of Miami, slowing over the islands currrently, then a swing around in the gulf to either Tampa or somewhere in Louisiana.

South Florida is in the clear. I predict the storm will make landfall near Daytona Beach. Even so I think it will only graze that area and continue NW and make a direct hit on the Georgia/South Carolina Coast, perhaps Charleston or Hilton Head.

I really do think Florida is in the clear here. You may see some winds and rain but the brunt of the storm will be felt in either Georgia or the Carolina coast.

First weekend of the year and I know the power or at least satelite will be down on Saturday - unbelievable - maybe I'll try boarding up the dish with a perfect southwest view.

Not something to joke about. I just got wiped out by the last one here in Wauchula,Fla. No electricity and running water for nearly 2 weeks isn't fun at all. Even when you attain a generator a fan doesn't do much in this heat down here, and finding ways to bathe is a challenge. Now Frances is heading dead this way, root for it to turn guys..........
