If I can get a cheap enough flight...

AM going down without a hotel... whats my best chance of getting a good rate?

Id love to meet for Drinks if I make it...

It all hinges on wether or not I can find a cheap flight...

arriving Saturday & leaving Wednesday...

SS - why not contact Glenda at the Golden Nugget? Tell her you are from the Rx. and ask for a rate. I can find the 800 number and EM addy for you (if you are interested). Good luck with the flight.

Betting on sports will get you nowhere in Vegas.Reason I ask is if you were giving some places a decent amount of play maybe you would be able to get a casino rate.

Savant,
it is a holiday weekend, but there are still some vacancies in town. As of yesterday, we were not fully booked, which is unusual for a holiday weekend considering we are a bargain basement hotel in the middle of the strip.
Look and call around, you might find something decent (under 100, if you're lucky).

Late arrival might be best. Most hotels on holiday weekends require minimum stays of the whole weekend and since you won't arrive on Friday many wouldn't give you a room. Now that the weekend is here and they likely have openings you will probably do alright. Best thing to do is just hit up Hotwire and Priceline and see what you can get. As long as you don't have your heart set on a specific place but just a given area.

SportSavant - try hotline.com I have had some last minute success with them and Vegas hotels. I would keep two browsers open and do a similar search on expedia. Since hotwire is blind you can do a prety good job of backing into which rate is for which hotel using the star rating, ball park rate and location from expedia.

Best of luck

Thanks guys... any more tips would be greet!!!!!

seems like Good deals for Monday & tuesday but not so great deals on Saturday or Sunday...

Should I just walk up?

Also... is staying at a smaller hotel 1 street away off the strip a big deal? I mean you can use all the services of the big hotel even if you are not staying there?

thanks guys...

SportsSavant,
its the Imperial Palace. Great location on the Strip, but not the quality of Caesar's, Mirage, etc.

One block away on the overflow hotels can be a great place to stay if you just need a place to sleep and shower. If you are willing to make a short walk it can save hundreds. Try Bourbon Street, San Remo, Ellis Island, and Terrible's.

BTW< the monorail isn't working and they don't know when it will again. Seems a tire fell off and they didn't follow safety procedures.

Green, I am not very picky in terms of 'Quality'

the room is really just a place for me to crash anyway...

I know it is probably more a Family hotel... But I got it for only 32$ a nite for Monday & Tuesday. (circus Circus)

Now I still need to work on Saturday & Sunday... It is more of a problem... Circus Circus woudnt even quote me a rate on this...

Thanks greendoberman, ill look into those other hotels...

Savant-try Tuscany Suites. It's nice, good rates, and pretty good location.
