As of 11am EST, IVAN is projected to hit the FORT MYERS area sometime Monday morning...........110 miles south of Tampa and then proceeding north right into the Tampa area.

Right now, FORT MYERS and TAMPA are the major Florida cities on high alert.

I may have to evacuate on Saturday.........this crap is getting old.

If it hits Florida it is very likely not to be a Cat 5 due to land crossing and prevailing weather patterns. Worst thing that could happen is if it goes towards the Gulf avoiding most land and then slows for a bit. That could make it one of the worst ever to hit land.

Living in Tampa, I am seriously concerned and have not planned my course of action yet.

It looks like its tracking for the Gulf after going over Cuba and hitting the Florida Gulf coast. Contract valid if at least Category 2.

The next update from the National Hurricane Center will be out at 5pm EST.

The last one had the storm headed for the Fort Myers area......which would include the Tampa area as it is only 120 miles north up the coast.
