I believe a young hurler for the Tigers named Lino Urduneta http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/players/7272 has set a major league record for worst debut in major league history. He came in in the third inning and faced 6 batters, giving up 5 hits and a walk (all scored) for a total of 6 earned runs without recording an out. That was rude. I can't think of a worse debut for a pitcher in major league history.
Before this, I read of a highly touted pitcher for the old St. Louis Browns in the 1940s who came in and gave up a cycle and managed to get one batter out, for an ERA of 108.00. He then walked off the mound, threw his mit into the dugout in disgust and never played again.
