doubt it...from what I hear, lots of people on -3.5, -4. Some decent action on those numbers tonight. Also the college game was totally one sided for Mizzou

Public lost big IMO tonight

some sharps on Ind +3.5, +4, but not enough to dent it

I'm sure dimeplayers only will be in to report, but that is my impression from posts in TFZ earlier...

I quess thats why the line dropped to 3. No way any bookmakers made money on THIS game tonight. Any plus 3.5 got eaten up (not to mention +4). The over getting there was also not pretty.

The over getting there was also not pretty?

I was told that the total moved from 45 to 44. Doesn't that mean the under was pounded? Or was I misinformed?

I don't think the closing line is always indicative of amount of action. Lines will move depending on who the action is coming from...action from a known syndicate player or "sharp" will have a greater effect on the line than public action. Also remember that a lot of books will move on air to avoid getting pounded if they see someone like Pinny move quick right before game time. 3.5, 4 were out there until at least 10 minutes to game time when I left the house. Maybe a syndicate swooped in and hit it right before game time, maybe not. That is the only way I can really see the books getting hammered.

Also will depend on the book. "Square" books raked in the dough last night. Books catering to sharper players may have been somewhat overexposed on the NFL game, but hard to say without first-hand access to their books.

wilheim, drunk.......doubt it was as bad as most of you seem to think........

typical game where the favorite is bet early and the dog late....

early action on n.e. drove line up to -3',-4......

late indy action brought line back to 3......

only way books got hammered is.... if the linesmaker went home early in the day and left the line at 3'.....

if you go by bookmaking theory "even action"......book x amount at -3' when action gets even on the other side drop to -3....at worse juice is made....

over here.....booked alot of public action at -3' and -4

a handfull of players got an early cristmas at indy +4,+3'

everybody else got to play kissyface with their sis at 3...

I had Indi +10.5 and Troy State +18 with my book. After making the teaser I thought I should of teased it the other way. Glad I did not!

Hammered? Hardly, I doubt any books got killed for all the reasons DPO gave.

i cant recall a recent situation like this.....

line opens at 3......and moves back and forth 2' and 3'....and falls 3

now that scenerio is what could hurt a book........usually a situation like that occurs during college bowl season......lines are posted early so lots of time for action...

lots of debate on the importance of the number 3 in football.....

i know wantitall4moi says its not that important from a players view point........but from a books its paramount.....

thats why most books go to increased vig before moving off 3.......

I've noticed the books making you pay 25 cents per half point from -3.5 to -3.0 and also from -3.0 to -2.5. The price per half point between other numbers in that same game was 15 cents.

All the suckers may have won last night, but it is the FIRST GAME of the year. Now they can fire away at will this weekend and I'm sure the books are only to happy to have this "marketing" expense.
