How come more high school players don't jump straight to the NFL

You hardly see any high school player skipping college and going straight to the NFL like you see in the NBA.

Is is because you have be alot stronger physically to play in the NFL?

I don't I think I have ever seen this jump by a player.

No high school player has ever been good enough to jump straight to the pros imo.

The players in high schools are still growing & could never handle the size, speed, & strength of the NFL.

There are grown men who can't handle it much less a man still growing.

NFL's eligibility rule, which prohibits players from taking part in its annual draft until three years have passed since their high school graduation.

Just ask Clarett and Williams.

I'd love to see a 18 yr old running across the middle into Ray lewis.

I am pretty sure that physical strenght and size dont really happen till college, but if thats not enough the RULE will get anyone thinking about it.

I will agree with Dante as far as the mindset of some youth getting all that money and the publicity.....

I would have jumped at the opportunity to play pro NBA after high school if given the chance...not that I had any talent that anyone would really offer, but who wants to sit for decades behind a desk to make the same amount of money an athlete makes in a few years???

All Lawrence Phillips had to do was play football for 5 or 6 years, keep the nose to the grindstone and then break free and do what you want, as long as you don't go through money like Mike Tyson you'll be alright....

Look at the signing bonuses, endorsements, salary.....Who wants to pass up 30 million over a handful of years to look at a plaque on the wall confirming that you have studied for years at the fine art of sitting behind a desk?

Give me the $30 million, you can have the plaque.

An 18 yr old kid going into the NFL, he could seriously be killed...this is not MLB or NHL or NBA...

On average were talking about men twice as strong ....not even mentioning the overwhelming skill factor differential

eric swann was 21 his rookie year.....

even the best and brightest high-school football player......doesnt have the skills (physical and mental) to make the transition from high-school grad to the nfl...
