Without looking at schedules it looks like the Astros have the best shot after making such a great come from nowhere run.

Astros have a tough schedule and are now 1 game back. Despite all the frustration, it's the Cubs' to lose at this point.

Marlins have a murderous schedule and that's taking into account they don't lose any more games to rainouts. Today's loss was very costly.

I would say if the Marlins lose tomorrow they are all but cooked. Can't afford to fall 3.5 back with this many teams battling. I think SD is also just about cooked. Looking like a Chi, SF and Hou dogfight. Cubs have several more to be played than those teams. It's the Cubs' to lose. They should get it done.

Cubs pitching won't win on reputation alone. Outside of Zambrano none of them are pitching well.

No but the bats showed some heart today for the Cubs. They could've packed it in but they rallied big in the late innings. I think if they beat up Florida tomorrow they will be on their way.

Doberman, I think Prior may be pulling his act together. I was at that game yesterday and he looked very strong, confident and poised. Takes him awhile to get going but I think he could finish up strong. Maddux is also pitching well. Wood is jeckyl-and-hyde. Great game, terrible game.

Prior also had the benefit of going up against a single-A pitcher and thus could afford to make a few mistakes. When he's on, he's as good as anybody, but he's rarely been on in 2004.

It would be a shame if Astros won, in my opinion it would be awaste of a spot. They don't have what it takes in postseason. Go Cubs or Marlins

Just when we started counting the Cubs out, they open up a small lead...Houston getting beat soundly by the Pirates again!

Cubs via talent and last year's playoff taste have best reason to be in playoffs, with the Fish being somewhat content, Pads tough yet with holes, G-Men with best ace and bat in the NL do it with mostly smoke & mirrors.

The Phillies don't have enough heart, arms, leadoff/OBP hitting, with too many players not backing Bowa(Ed Wade should get canned firstmost)..they're just saving some face to get back over mendoza.

Signed,
Disappointed Phanatic

P.S. Wolf & Padilla have the best stuff for a pair of yearly single-digit win pitchers..yada yada yada!
