I sent in a Western Union deposit this morning, at about 11:20am. A little close for the Noon games, but based on my previous experience with Western Unions over the last 10 years or so. And dealing with numerous books, this was still plenty of time to get my account credited. It never takes more then 10-15 mins at the most. 5 mins to 12 and nothing was credited, I was looking to bet a 12 o'clock game, so I called them. She explained the delay on receiving the funds due to today being 9/11 and the government looking into things a little extra today.I had NO PROBLEM at all with this explanation, and this was 100% acceptable to Me. Now My complaint, I wanted to bet a noon game and what could be done. She put Me on hold to ask Supervisor.Came back and said, no good you have to wait. I asked to let Me make bet and if Western Union never came through they could cancel bet. She said nope. Now this thought didn't just pop into My head, it has been done for Me numerous times with other books in the past. As a matter of fact when you send into Carib, they credit your account immediately with the pending deposit then let it clear later, so I really didn't think I was asking so much or was I?

joez148,

Tough issue as we do not know how busy the people were at that given time. In my experiences with WU, albeit over a year atleast, it took about 45 mins to clear. They may have been able to assist you and that would have been great, but you have to take a little responsibility as well for pushing the timeframe. I am sorry for your troubles.

It was pretty much understood the timeframe wasn't the issue during My conversation with them. Just happened to be the 9/11 thing that delayed things from the "normal" process. They could of helped Me out with the bet I thought, not trying to put them on the blacklist for this. Just got Me hot since I had other books work with me before with unusual circumstances.

WTF is that about??? Yeah, my WU deposit elevated off my desk, soared out my window, and almost downed a couple of skyscrapers - it got a little impatient waiting for it's pending trip to Panama City...what a pathetic waste of resources by the govt...

Get these transactions done sooner or use neteller. You are pissed at the book because you screwed up and cut it too close.

Complete A-Hole,the delay was because Western Union wasn't releasing the funds at the governments request. Not because I screwed up.Didn't matter if I sent the money 3 days ago, if their going to freeze the funds, thats the way it is. I also know Neteller is the greatest thing to come along in peoples eyes since Penicillin, but I don't use them.I've been sending these since back in the late 80's with Bowmans, then WWTS when they were in St Maarten. Before most of you ever heard of offshore books. That was PLENTY of time to get the credit, WWTS, SOS, Carib would of taken the bet on the spot.

delays happen. Should have sent it in sooner. I would chalk it up to a "lesson learned".

g'luck

There were people who sent it in earlier, still didn't matter. The only lesson I learned was its more important who I send to then when I send it.

Western Union will do anything to slow down a deposit to an offshore book. Pretty soon you will not be able to even use them to send money to a sportsbook.

Ditto Kidslick, Neteller is so much faster and easier than western union. When I was stateside I would miss games just because I was too lazy to drive down to Thrifty's and do the transfer.

Yes, I know, I just use different places for different things, certain ones for Credit Cards, ones for Bank Wires, ones for Western Unions. Then I revolve them for free payouts and things like that. Hollywood was just the place I wanted to use today.

I was probably one of the last guys to open up a neteller account. It is by far the best way to move money to and from sportsbooks. Anyone not using them is crazy. WU Sucks

When everything is going right, the perfect method for Me is Pinnacle with My bank Visa Card.I'm pretty lucky as my bank still allows these deposits.Theres no charge for deposits they go through instantly. Then on withdrawals from Pinnacle I get a bankwire thats usually IN My bank account by that same evening. In my eyes that tops Neteller.

Joel, I would also suggest you use neteller....WU at 11:20 on the First full sat of college games im sure they where really busy....Just a thought but neteller is instant

Understood. On a humerous note, my biggest fear with Western Union all these years was that, one day Western Union would call me and ask me to describe the person i'm sending the money to, or who they were. Then i'll be sitting there with my foot in my mouth.I think there was a thread not too long ago where somebody had something like this happen because a book gave them a bad name to use.
