Here we are in game 2 of the regular season for the Purdue Boilermakers and defense that is replacing 9 of 11 starters has yet to surrender a point. Throw in 51 points vs Syracuse and already 59 points today against Ball State, and Purdue looks like they may be for real. All the credit has to go to Joe Tiller. Before Tiller came to Purdue, Boiler had not played in a bowl or had winning record for nearly 2 decades. Since Tiller has arrived in West Lafayette, they have been in a bowl every season. This looked to be a down team for Boilers compared to the past few years but once again Tiller may be doing his best coaching job yet. He is by far the best coach in Big 10. Others will argue for Tressel or Carr, or Alvaraz but no its Tiller. He has half the talent these others schools have and consistently win. If he coached at OSU or Michigan he may already have a national title. Any thoughts?

I like Joe Tiller alot and he has certainly earned his stripes. To say the best is big, but the man can flat out coach.

Syracuse and Ball St suck. Lets see them hold some of the Big 10 schools scoreless. But i must admit two shutouts replacing all those guys on defense is impressive.

Tiller's in trouble October 9th.

FERENTZ is MUCH better than Tiller!

If fact, I do not even like Joe Tiller.

The guy has lost more close games in the last 4 years than anybody........mainly on his stupidity.

Joe Tiller is an average Div 1 coach....at best.

Fish's bias is obvious in his post.
Tiller won at WYOMING for god's sake!

I think we'd have to consider Pat Hill at Fresno after the first two weeks.

I'd have to put Tedford, Meyer, and Ferenz in my top three off the top of my head.

In eating on the football field while munching on sunflower seeds and peanuts. Whatta damn pig!! He couldn't win a damn bowl game and thanks to Georgia. Indiana football pool is mediocre at best due to downward spiral in
South Bend.

I am a big fan of Tiller as I think he can coach. I wouldn't make a big deal about their first 2 wins though considering the competition.

Joe's stellar game plan today certainly slowed down the Mighty Ball St Cardinal offense. To his credit he did mop up the floor with Paul Pasqualoni's head last week who possibly could be the worst coach in the country. Joe is not the best coach in the Big Ten let alone the country

To me one of the most incredible stats in college football is Paul Pasqualoni's tenure at Syracuse. 14 YEARS!!! are You frigging kidding me. Every year they underachieve. I guess the 'Cuse faithful have just given up at this point and wait until hoops season.

4th or 5th in the conference? Who would you rank above him? I think he is the top 3 clearly.

What a lot of guys are failing to see here is what these other coaches would do in a similar situation? For example, do u think Carr could go right in and start winning at a program where they had no bowl appearances or even a winning record for two decades! If Tiller went to Michigan, kids would come there just to play for Michigan regardless of who the coach was. That is why Alabama tried to hire Tiller two years ago as they knew what a hell of a coach he really is? Purdue's recruiting is always ranked in the bottom half of Big 10 while Purdue under Tiller always in Top 5 in Big 10. That is coaching! In regards to this hot start to Purdue, they have taken care of business and then some. Did Missouri? No Did K- State? No Did Nebraske? No Replacing 9 starters on defense and only surrendering 7 points in 2 games is outstanding. Kudos should also be given to Coach Brock on defense! He may also deserve a head coaching position soon. Last, though Purdue gets lower rankings on recruits, they had 9 kids drafted in this year's draft only bettered by Ohio State. That tells me they develop kids. There are other great coaches, including Ferentz at Iowa, but imo, there is none better in Big 10 and maybe this is the year we find out in the country!

Mason isn't better then Tiller. I have seen too many of his teams blow huge leads & I direct that back at the coach. Once could be considered a fluke but when it is routine, I start to question the coach.

Carr isn't a better coach then Tiller. Tiller has done a great job at Purdue with the talent he has gotten. Imagine what he could do if he had the talent that name schools like Michigan & Ohio State get.

Paterno...then the rest can follow.

BTW keep in mind this is the same Ball State team that gave BC a lot of problems last week.

BC's opponent tonight...Penn State! Oh I can't wait for 8 PM.

Carr was a huge part of U-M success long before he was the head coach. UM could have went out and got just about anyone after Moeller was canned including Tiller. I agree Kojak the facilities are a big reason players come to UM. Make no mistake about Carr is a great coach and would have been fired long ago if he was'nt. A program like UM hire the best, and he is one of them. I thought Bo was the most overated coach in the country, Lloyd could be the most underated
