A question that I hope someone can give me a true answer to.

Question: The earth is round right?
So how come people are not falling off?

(Dont tell me about gravity with out a proper explanation why if the earth is round like a ball then maybe some how peolpe on "the other side" is upside down)

Round is round is round, so are people in south america and australia actually walking upside down?

And if the earth is round, how come every where you go, the ground is flat?

going all in with: PLASTIC . . pretty soon too much plastic to handle unless they start dumping it in space

there is no up/down in the universe, so people in australia or south america might argue that it is YOU the one that is walking upside down

you can see that the moon is round right? well, unless you have a conspiracy theory that the astronauts didn't land on the moon you can see that it looks pretty flat also in the pictures they took

planets are pretty big things, so you cant really feel that its not flat but round

I am not sure if I just played the sucker by trying to answer, I hope you were genuiely asking and not playing a joke on us!

The answer is no - sort of. You see, the Earth is almost a perfect sphere in a vast area we call space. In order for Earth to be upside down, we would need to decide which way is up in space.

The problem is, space is bigger than we can imagine. We have no idea how big it is or which direction "up" would be.

In other words, no, Earth is not upside down. Although, I don't think you could say it is right-side up, either.

Whether you want to hear it or not, the reason people remain planted with their feet on the ground no matter where on earth they are is, in fact, gravity. If they were out of the earth's atmosphere, they would float, such as in a spacecraft or on the moon, as there is no gravity pull holding them in place. Excuse this oldman as my engineering background couldn't resist. What a question.

Up and down are relative, not absolutes, so the question is moot ...

39 posts + registered in 2002 + location Shangri-la, sure means you have ALOT to SAY,hhmmm,

my question of the earth being ROUND (try picking up a baseball, thats considered ROUND)
and look at it,
now consider that people are living all over that, tell me if its a dumb question for me to ask about the possibility of persons being on angles.
No matter how large the earth is, IT IS STILL ROUND, so, some where you have to be up side down, or on an angle, period

yep. "Up" and "down" are determined in relationship to gravity. Gravity pulls you towards the center of the earth, so "up" is always away from the center.

I hope you are not an American...our educational system cannot have gotten this bad.

Thats if you ASSUME that there is an up or down, the universe doesn't have tags that say "THIS SIDE UP" or the opposite so

GET IT NOW.........THERE IS NO UP /DOWN SIDE ON THE PLANET EARTH OR ANY PLANET/STAR/QUASAR/ETC ON THE UNIVERSE

second: gravity is the force that holds things on its place on the surface, the same force that keeps the satellites in orbit, its a fact of life, you can measure it, you can predict its effects on bodies and because of it you can enjoy satellite tv, you can't just dismiss it
