I always hear that Pinnacle is sometimes more of a gambling book than an actual sportsbook and they have the sharpest lines. An example of that is when they have a game at -2.5 and everyone else has the game at -3. Lets say that Pinnacle has Chicago -2.5 over Detroit and everyone else has the game at -3. Are they implying that Detroit +3 is to good of a line to offer cause they like Detroit plus the points? Also saying everyone else has Chicago -3, but we will give it to you at -2.5 to intice you to bet Chicago cause again they like Detroit. Would my thinking me correct?

3 might not be the best example number to use. In most cases you have to include juice when comparing Pinnacle numbers to those at other books. eg. 4-126 at Pinnacle is comprable to 4.5 -110 elsewhere. I'm sure other posters will have some answeres for your question.
