In Chicago the way they "stiff" a horse is simple...With the extra long stretch @ Balmoral and Hawthorne most winners come from off the pace. Easiest way to kill a horse is take him to the front in a scorching first quarter and they drop dead in the lane like fireflies on a heatlamp...Drivers gets away with it ..cant say he didnt try ..after all he went to the front...Insiders cash in as they know who's out @ 3/5 ,7/5,2-1 and cash the juicy tri or super by boxing the balance of the field 6,7 or even 8 horses. Usually a $300/500 bill in a drivers pocket will get the horse to run "poorly" that evening. That is the way many of the drivers survive....THe racing in Michigan and Illinois is so obvious it is pitiful. I have called the judges several times and they talk to you like you are some friggin cokehead bothering them..They dont give two Fu....s for the publics welfare...In 1995 I won The world Cup of T bred Handicapping @ THe Sands IN LV. I am not a genius but I have some idea of what the hell goes on...Believe me Harness racing is RIGGED....All SEt up ..well 60% of the time not ALL...All based on 1/4 and 1/2's times and the pressure the leader gets from the others..Leave the front end alone they have a shot at winning ..pressure them they are dead...Total Scam...State Racing Commissions donot want to hear anything..may cut into their 25-33% take per race!! Highway thievery at its worst...Did u know the top 3 drivers were barred @ NOrthfield Park for cashing over 2.1 million over 2 years worth of fixed tris and supers? True.....David Hawk..Randall Tharps and J. Pantaleano...two face federal indictments for racefixing and tampering with a sporting event over next 12 months...Currently driving at Raceway Park IN toledo,Ohio(appeal) ..A class D track.racing for $1400 purses. An absolute f...n joke.Yes I still bet the harness horses..I am one sick puppy..Sometimes I win sometimes I Lose...very tuff ..an insiders game..

dickiesmiles; I haven't watched a harness race in 20 plus years. For your sanity--if I were you would do the same.

But I will be forever "hooked" on the thoroughbreds at the higher class tracks of Aqu-Bel-Sar. Gul. San-Dmr-Hol. Plus a couple of others when they run the better horses Kee and CDX in Ky included.
Harness racing holds no interest for me these days.

Couldn't agree more. The funniest thing is that I cut my teeth at a local harness track many years ago. Now I just follow T-breds. Race fixing in harness racing has been one of the worst kept secrets I have known. And to think that to this day they are allowed to get away with such actions is absurd. That would explain why there are maybe 500 people at a harness track for the races. And half of them are homeless and want to get out of the weather.lol

just cant agree to this. The % of wins of the favorites and second betting choices are exactly in line with what it is for Throughbred racing. The winners win at the right % same with second choices.

If 60% of races were being tanked (or even 20%) by the favorites or second choices you would notice.

DickkieSmiles You make a awful large amout of accusations without any proof. We are not dumb to not think that things dont go on like any sport. But not to the exstent that you claim,I would be intrested in your proof. You talk about the drivers one of them was caught for betting $5dollars on the computer.Give us some time and dates and verfication.Without proof what good are they just a bunch of gossip .Everybody has a friend that told them .

ellen--I won't give you the driver's name or date; and you can certaintly choose to not believe me if you wish. But I saw a friend of mine hand a large amt of cash to a driver after he had had a very successfullnight. I might add this happened on more than one occassion back in the 1980's.

Oldmane time I have seen that many times more so in the eighties .I have been betting harness racing for almost 50 years and owed many horses .I have heard or were privy to that type of informatoin many times . which I allways overbet as many as 70% lose. If there is no collusion involved all those other things that are stated are just horseracing . the big advantae is whe you get a horses good or sound ,when you turned bad luck into good luck ,after paying all those bills you deserve some type of edge. One person can
