so far, early in the day, who or what team has surprised you the most? or the least?

So far i would say that Arizona is playing much better than i would have thought...their qb can throw, and obviously Green has them playing hard against a more talented team...

Also impressed by the Steelers....they are making my Raiders look bad in this game, dont think (+4) is gonna be enough...

Not impressed by the Ravens offense...i know they are a defensive team, but damn, u have to score sometime to win...

Not impressed by the Lions, and their new look, "hungry" team....they havent done squat against a sad bears team...

what are your "early" impressions?

I'm surprised teams aren't taking advantage of the new defensive holding/P.I. rule and going downfield enough. I'm extremely impressed with Baltimore's defense. Boy, if they ever had a halfway decent passing game, they would rule the NFL for years to come!

Keep in mind that in the NFL, the teams widely play "not to lose" instead of "playing to win".

That's the type of play I'm seeing General, playing not to lose (and it bores the hell out of me). I'm generally a offense lover outside of seeing B-more play defense, boy can they hit and fly to the ball! I loved the Rams of years ago with Vermeil at the helm or the 49ers of old where they wanted to score every possession. Now I'm seeing field position. Running on 3rd and 8 from your 30 yard line and other nonsense. Playing it safe I guess is what wins games now

impressed by:

Domanick Davis: 70+ rush AND rec and 2 tds.

arizona: in a situation where they could get smoked - as of now - not happening.

UNimpressed by:

ravens SPECIAl teams - which might end up costing them this game - they are pathetic - as well as the offense which is just that - offensive!

Chargers: for what was thought to be one of the worst teams in the NFL to be right there with a team "on the rise" in houston - impressed.

Emmitt Smith: 11 carries - 64 yards. i know it is against the Rams, and it is only week 1, but still, not bad. i still think he is washed up - but this week - very solid.

one more:

IMpressed that the NFL invested some money into a top-notch server so that its site could stay up all day and what has to be a huge amount of traffic flowing its way while some 2-bit gambling site with a fraction of the traffic crashes every few hours - if that long.

Not impressed with the Zebra crew on Buffalo's last drive that should have sealed it. Different year, same ol' shit.

Hats off to Jags' Bryon Leftwich for taking his team 80 yards in 14 plays to defeat Bills 13-10 in final seconds with 7 yard TD pass.

Yeah,
There was alot of skill involved in throwing two fouth down jump balls
1036316054.gif

And even more skill having the geriatrics penalize the Bills out of FG range that would have stretched it to 7

That Leftwich clown actually makes Bledsoe look good.

So far:

Westbrook, Owens, Pinkston, McNabb and Lewis look good.

Our defense needs to be smarter (no more stupid penalties)...and tackle better.

Lander, I did not see the game, only followed scoring on Sportsline. Blame it on refs if you want, but when you score 10 points at home don't expect to win many games. Sounds like the same old Bills, Bledsoe is not the answer..

impressed: Palmer- looked way better than I expected. Was pressured all day but stood in strong and made one bad play at the end, but besides that put the ball on target everytime.

Unimpressed: Bengals O Line-this group should be one of the best in the league and they didn't look good at all.
