For those that didn't see it, Rolen was hurt Friday night in LA. Obviously this paid huge dividends for the Dodgers as the Cardinal third base replacement were very inadequate handling the position and it cost the Cards 2 games by not being able to handle a simple bunt. Since winning the World Series in 82, every year the Cardinals have been in the playoffs, an unfortunate injury has killed their chances.

1985- Vince Coleman run over by tarp
1987- Clark and Pendleton rib cage injuries
1996- Brian Jordan's knee
2000- Mark McGwire knee
2001- none
2002- Rolen getting run over at 3b

2004- Rolen again hurting knee?

Are these unfortunate or are the Cardinals jinxed? IMO, Cards may have won in 85,87,00, and 02 as they were on serious rolls at the time. Any thoughts?

Cub fans really hate to see anything happen to Cardinal Nation.

Better Rolen than one on their pitchers. Their lineup is stacked.

The Cards have one injury and you call it a jinx? Every team has injuries, most of them many more than one. It's not a jinx, it's called the percentages. If they can't overcome it then they don't deserve to win. Like FW said, as a Cubs fan forgive me if I fail to shed a tear. Cubs have only sustained injuries to Prior, Wood, Clement, Borowski, Remlinger, Farnsworth, Sosa, Hollandsworth, Ramirez, Gonzalez, Nomar, Grudzielanek. Half the damn roster.

Crazy as it sounds, better Rolen than Carpenter or Suppan.
