Rob Funk's favorite "journeyman" pitcher put up another staggering start today, 8 IP, O er, 14 K's.

For the month of Sept. he's pitched 29 innings, given up ZERO!!! runs and struck out 41.

Since June 4th, 148.1 IP, 193 K's (that's 11.71 k/9) and an ERA of 1.33 !!!!

Simply staggering, downright historic numbers.

Yep, and there will be moron's out there talking how Schilling or Mulder desrve the Cy Young over him...

The guy is the best SP in baseball right now, guranteed 2 wins in the playoffs, hopefully they slate him to start games 1 and 4 of whatever series they play in.

i watched him pitch today and i agree he is cy young. it was rediculous the pitches he was able to throw with that type of location. just sick of seeing a no namer on a nothing doing team in a contract year looking for money. this guy has been around for years where was all of this before?! loaiza part 2. thats my only beef. but after watching the scrub toss some cute 92 mph's with great accuracy with a high WHIP yes he should get it. hes still log term junk though. 1 good year gets an award it doesnt make for a great pitcher.

GIVE THE AWARD TO FLASHPAN SANTANA he worked hard for his dough this year. and you know its some joker get money crap GD dont even BS me. curt is trying to break a curse. flashpan is trying to break a bank.

Wait until this guy gets a few more seasons to work on his pitches and his catchers and coaches figure out better ways to mix it up. This could be the tip of the iceberg for him. A ton of talent with a good decade left to win plenty of Cy Youngs. I am sure George has seen enough and told Cashman "I want that Joe-han guy out in Minnesota next year!"

Rob it's ignorant Red Sox and Cub fans like you that keep me smiling when your team chokes year after year.
Your hero Schilling has very comparable numbers to Johan. And he is still a youngin' comparatively.
Now I can't wait to see this no name team kick the crap out of your Red Sox and hear you whine about some curse. I lost all respect I had for you now.

what else can I say? this is the second time you started a thread calling me out and last time you did I was very nice about it, maybe you didnt see the reply.

I acknowledge the fact he is the best in the game this year, but he plays for the enemy. I'm not going to root for the enemy to pick up an award. I would say some BS if kevin brown was up for the award also. I know I am full of crap, but I do mention he has sick stuff and it would be a deserved award. but im not going to sit here and clap for some minnesota player when we might be playing them.

First he's a no-name pitcher on a going nowhere team, now they are the enemy. I guess that at least warrants some respect in that there is some fear there.
Second, regardless of whether he is a BoSox, Yank, or Twin it would be nice to show a little appreciation for his incredbile performance this year. To compare him to Loaiza and to call him a journeyman is doing a promising young pitcher an injustice.
I am far from a Twin fan, and they only vested interest I have in Santana is he has helped my fantasy team win some money and I have backed him a few times in bets. Nonetheless, I recognize truly outstanding and historic performances and applaud them regardless of my loyalties.
