Quite a few times I say to myself "where is that great thread?" only to say a few seconds later "those fxxxin mods moved it again!"
It made me think about what's right and what's wrong on this issue...
Of course it's right to divert name-calling and other childish behavior to the RR. That is clear. But what about the quality part of the thread which was there before the name calling!? Why does that have to get moved too?
When a thread starts off as a quality thread and then at some point gets out of hand or violates the rules, would it not be possible to COPY it to the RR instead of MOVING it?
In the original room you could freeze it so no new posts can get added, have the improper posts deleted by the mods with a message saying something like "for the continuation of this thread please go to the RR. We had to move it there because of the content"
At least this way people who were following it could still find it, the quality could be left where the quality belongs, and the readers would be given an explanation for the decision -- a much more respectful way to go that avoids the negativity associated with mods exercising undue power, especially in cases where the decision is debatable.
I was considering making this suggestion for quite some time but when I saw co-captains thread in the RR for reasons I think are weak (especially since co-captain is one of the Rx's most popular cappers who has shared enormous amounts of work for free) I just couldn't resist any longer.
