My personal belief is that having played any sport while useful in understanding the game has little to do with how successful or unsuccessful you will be in both handicapping the sport or, more importantly, ultimately showing a long term profit in this business. In fact, one could argue that having played the game could actually unduly influence how one looks at the game. In other words, instead of viewing the game objectively and without bias, one actually views the game from a more narrow perspective based on their own experience in the sport rather then focus on a wider view of the game. Your thoughts are welcomed.
