MLB : 2* <?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = ST1 />FLORIDA<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = O />

It’s funny to read all the warm and fuzzy feelings coming out of the Great White North in regards to Montreal bidding farewell to Olympic Stadium. With the team allegedly leaving for DC all of 3000 “fans” came out last night but a massive 20 to 25,000 are expected tonight.

That would be great if this was a couple of high-school teams playing each other but baseball capacity in Olympic is nearly 44,000. The Stadium opened in 1976 with very few highlights to show excluding the Summer Olympics. The Stadium was supposed to be state of the art including a retractable roof that doesn’t retract.

To the game: Florida was eliminated from post-season over the weekend and they’ve won 2 straight after losing 6 in a row. Carl Pavano is facing his former club tonight with his last shot at win #18 which would be a franchise record. The right-hander is 11-2 with a 2.92 ERA and is also 5-2 L/T with a 2.51 ERA.

Sun Woo Kim is 1-0 his last 3 starts with a 1.33 ERA including a ND @ Florida throwing 7 shutout innings. Montreal has won 3 of 4 with Kim but Pavano should be a bit more motivated to send the Expos away with yet another loss.
