line movement please help!!!

i have been here for a while and i understand there is many reasons a line
moves. Please help me understand this i see the "public" and this forum get
hammered when eveyone likes a stong play. If i like a team on saturday just
a game in the 40 scheduled and i get it at 17 and like and it goes to 15
should i be scared or hold my position, please help!!!

In college, you should be scared............but you have to hold your position.

You have no better alternative.

You made a blunder and it may cost you.

That and line moves occur by squares moving the line more so in the NFL than in the NCAA.

it is usually impossible to tell what moves are "square" and which are "sharp" purely from looking at opening/current numbers alone. You usually need some kind of outside information or experienced judgement to make an accurate determination.

If the line is going the OPPOSITE way than what you would expect, than I would say that is generally sharp action. For instance, this week in the NFL the KC Chiefs are +5.5...if this were to drop to +3.5, that would probably be sharp action. No way Joe Public takes KC this week after their terrible performance (and you know ever square bettor in the world was laying chalk on the chiefs for the past 3 weeks). However, I would not be surprised to see that line move to +7 -120 at some shops before gametime on public action alone.

Also remember, the line may be moving because of the "number" not because of the "team"

You may hate the team but love the "number" a.k.a "spread":think:
