BetCRIS: your account has been inactived due to no zipcode being given

WTF??? A "friend" of mine opened an account at BetCRIS yesterday. He went through the usual filling out of the forms and was approved and made a bet. The next day he attempts to log in. When he logs in the screen goes back to the home page, no error message.

When he goes online to the customer support chat window they tell him that his account has been inactived (sic) because no zip code was provided for the address. If they need a zip code why not require that upon registration instead of "inactived" his account?

My "friend" likes the prop bets there but it doesn't give him too much confidence in how things are done. He's wondering when his account will be "inactived" again for some other similar reason.

Anyone else experience this?

Or maybe show a little CS and e-mail the customer or have somebody there look it up on the internet:think:

You are right, that is a lame reason for deactivating an account. Proper procedure IMO is to ask for the info. by email, if no answer then put a message on the screen when you log in. If still no answer after a reasonable period then deactivate.

We players should be wary of books who exercise undue power based on having control of our money. They need to show utmost respect for that money and make sure they treat it as ours and not theirs. The books who do this are the ones that rise to the top IMO.

Fish, yes, it was cleared up doing as you suggested. The concern he had was whether this would happen some time later with other information that was not required at the time of registration.

Also, what if he was at a different IP address? They check the IP address of the computer used at registration. I believe he would be unable to log in and bet if this were the case.

Thanks for the feedback though.

a deactivated account is nothing to fuss about. its just a temporary hold. it doesn't mean his account is closed or erased. just provide the zip code, account will be reactivated and you can go ahead wagering. no big deal.

Perhaps you're right in light of how other people get scammed. That is until he wants to make a bet and doesn't get it in because his account has been deactivated for some other reason. Bad customer service in my view.

I have experienced this with a couple top books and I kinda thought it was nice to see they were on top of things. A simple email took care of it.

Macau has no Post or ZIP codes, but everytime I register I am forced to give one, so I just type in a few letters and nos. I wonder when the first bookie will close my account for giving them some rubbish.

i'm sure they will undestand your situation. if you don't have a zip code many times you have to put rubbish in that field or else you cannot submit your application.

I see your point about logging on a few minutes before a game and getting shut out over something silly.....
