When it comes to Shockey the refs seem to be trigger happy, plenty of guys spike the ball after big plays. Unless he said something totally taboo (can't imagine what) then the flag was bogus.

He didn't say anything, he spiked the ball & pounded his hand against his heart as a sign of showing heart. The man shows alot of emotion & brings alot to the game, something more players should do!

Maybe They Enforce the Celebration Rules Differently For Touchdowns And Non-touchdowns? I Dont Really Know. I Just Think That If Theres A Chance You'll Hurt Your Teams Chances Then Dont Do Anything Dumb. Just Hand The Ball To the Zebra Like A Gentleman.

Where was the flag when the Giants defensive player returned an INT for a TD & threw the ball all the way up into the stands. The td was called back on defensive holding on the guy who returned it for a td but that isn't the point. The refs have biases against certain players & Shockey is one of them.

Right or not, Shockey should know the refs have their eye on him and not do anything to hurt his team.

The penalty is delay of game for spiking a live ball (and so it is different than just spiking after a TD)...yes, lots of players do it and get away with it -- though when it's on a play that goes out of bounds and stops the clock, you won't be a penalty called, but every time it happens in the field of play, I wait for the flag to be thrown. The players should know not to do it, but as we've seen, there are tons of undisciplined players out there.
