The programs that are broadcast in HDTV come in beutifully as well as the directv sunday ticket games that are broadcast in HDTV, but the rest of the football games and sattelite channels come in shittier than my analog cable did before I got directv and HDTV.
Am I screwed b/c my HDTV doesn't transmit the signal well unless it is being broadcast in HD (Mitsubishi ws-65315 65" hd ready), or is there something that I can do?
does anyone else have this problem? or are there any particular settings that I can try?
I have different cables hooked up through the different inputs (s-video, composite, rca) and switch them when I am watching something other than a hd broadcast, but little/no diiference.
please help - i love the the way the hd looks, but there aren't many programs being broadcast in hd yet

thanks

I also have HDTV and love it. I understand your flustration. I split my signal between the HDTV cable box and the TV itself. I use componant 1 for HDTV and Video 1 for the cable feed. The non HDTV channels are "OK" but they would still look better on my old Sony Trinitron ...

It's just a matter of time before everything goes HDTV. One look at it and you are sold for life.

this is a common problem with most HDTV sets. The motto is "bad signal in bad signal out". HDTV sets are so good that they amplify the poor SD signal.

The first thing I would recommend is to use DVI or HDVI cables to hook up your satellite box to your TV.

Second, get a calibration DVD from your local retailer. Most TV's come preset with the birghtness way too high and might be causing some of the blurriness you are experiencing.

More and more channels are converting signals to HD every month so it is just a matter of time before you get that unbelivable picture on every channel.

The Fox Channels (Fox Sports Net) are terrrible on HDTV's which is very annoying to sports fans.

i use the dvi cable , but the picture sucks worse when using the dvi as my input. of course it is the best for my hdtv signals. on the programs that aren't hd , the rca cables give the best reception, but barely noticeable.

is it the TV that causes the shtty picture on non hd? it just can't convert crappy signal well?
thanks for replies
