TWINS....w/ a 50 million dollar payroll out played a team w/ a 185 mil payroll...lack of depth...which you can not have with a small market team, cost the Twins..they had nobody worth a shot left in the pen and thats why Gardenhire was forced to run Nathan back out ....Still a very impressive showing for MINNY vs a team who can leave a guy like Giambi...his salary is 1/3 of the entire Twins payroll...and nobody even knows he's missing.

sorry...but he knew the situation entering the late innings and still had no one up in the pen....bad management no matter how you slice it.....the payroll dis-parity was in existience long before the 10th-12th innings.

TREEZ....Romero a middle man..this year vs yankees he pitched 1.1 in and had an era of 27.00....that does not inspire alot of confidence.

I don't think there is a whole lot of blame here, Minny just got beat. My only concern is if Nathan is going to have anything left if they need him Friday? When you have Jeter,Shef,Rod, and Matsui, Minn was lucky to go 3 innings without giving up a run, I don't care who they had pitching

Middle man? Don't middle men normally pitch in late innings, especially the 12th when the bullpen is already thin? With that comment you are saying that Nathan should pitch through the 16th if it went that far since middle men are for middle innins and starters are to start. Don't buy it.

You are going to base your facts on a measily 1.1 innings pitched?? LOL

Simply put, leaving Nathan out there was the wrong move. Gardenhire outcoached Torre in game one, but certainly not last night and that is why they lost. This is nothing against Nathan, but asking him to go 3 innings in the cold at Yankee Stadium was pushing it a bit too far. It was inevitable that he was going to get hit and it happened.

That being said, Rivera sucks too for blowing the game and costing me the under!!

TREEZ....this was all said to shed some light on how gardenhire may have been thinking..yes middle men pitch late innings...and yes i think his geting bombed by yanks prior to this game made gardenhire think he had a better shot to win with a tired Nathan than a fresh Romero...i did'nt say say i thought it was a great move....cut me a little slack

Sorry, was not my intention to attack you, rather just state a counter argument. No pun intended.

Gl with what you decide to do. Friday is tomorrow, we have some winning to do today. With that said, I like the Stros today, big again. GL, I will probably stay away from that game tomorrow as I like betting pitching, not offense. Arroyo is a ? and with that -160, which will probably be closer to -200 come game time, I stay away. Still think the Sox win, but staying away, for now.Treez

I agree Bookem. Last year their bullpen had Hawkins and Guardado in it. Not enough $$ to pay them. Problem with small market teams is their lack of depth.

However still wish Gardenhire would have pinch hit Ford for the rookie, and he needed Romero to warm up at the start of the inning. May end up costing the series for Minnesota.

It would be nice for the Twins if they had more money for players but it would also be nice if their manager showed up to manage a game where they had a chance to put the Yankees down 2-0. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that your closers arm is about to fall off. It was a joke that Nathan even started the inning but then Gardenhire sits in the dugout with his thumb up his ass while the guy throws pitches closer to 42nd St than to home plate.

The Twins could have put the game away earlier but they sent up this stiff named Jason Kubel in a huge spot in the game. Where did they find this guy? Did they pick him up on a street corner in the Bronx somewhere? He couldn't have hit the ball if they had given him a tennis racket.

The Twins are done. You can stick a fork in them. The Yankees will tattoo this team in the next two games.

Bobbby, you are right. Take the Yanks -1.5 for the next two games and watch the bankroll rise.
