St. Louis Cardinals -179

I would not lay this much chalk on a regular season game but I must do it here in "fall ball". Marquis is a very consistent performer. Marquis @ home: 3.76 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, .275 BAA, @ night: 3.70 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, .269. He faced LA twice this year and had a poor outing at LA but pitched seven scoreless innings with 9 K's @ home. All time vs. LA - 2.88 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, .240 BAA. I expect Marquis to pitch six or seven solid innings and turn to the bullpen - L5: 2.81 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, .200 BAA, L10: 3.38 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, .232 BAA, @ HOME: 3.34 ERA, 1.17 WHIP, .226 BAA. LA struggling at the plate versus righties: L5 vs Righties: .204 BA, .268 OBP, L10 vs. Righties: .213 BA, .302 OBP. Weaver has had a solid season but has struggled down the stretch: SEP: 6.53 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, .325 BAA. Versus STL(2004) - 6.23 ERA, 1.46 WHIP, .288 BAA. @ STL(2004) - 7.50 ERA, 2.00 WHIP, .308 BAA. 2004 AWAY - 4.46 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, .269 BAA. Weaver's splits versus lefties: 1.61 WHIP, .291 BAA with 13 HR allowed. STL can surround the duo of Pujols & Rolen with lefties - Womack, Anderson, Cedeno, Edmonds, Walker, Mabry. LA bullpen not shutting anybody down as of late: L10 - 4.71 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, .255 BAA. Looks great on paper :heh: .............

Houston/Atlanta OVER 8.5 -103

This setting does not appear to be leading to a dominant Oswalt performance today - Career @ Turner Field he has a 5.52 ERA, 1.57 WHIP, and a .328 BAA. Versus Atlanta career - 4.98 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, .294 BAA. Drew is 5/15, A. Jones is 5/10, Marerro is 5/15 career vs. Oswalt. Estrada on the season is a .329 hitter versus righties. Oswalt 2004 AWAY - 3.90 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, .279 BAA, DAY - 4.28 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, .286 BAA. Atlanta is batting .281 with a .324 OBP L5 versus righties. Hampton's splits are skewed in my opinion because his 1st half and 2nd half were very different...but in one start versus Houston in August he was roughed up - 4 1/3 innings - 7 H, 6 BB, 5 ER, .368 BAA. Beltran should play today and is 5-7 with a HR career verus Hampton. Houston is hitting .264 with a .361 OBP L5 versus lefties. Atlanta bullpen used two of their solid relievers yesterday and overall have not been that good anyway - L5: 4.98 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, .295 BAA.

LA struggling at the plate versus righties: L5 vs Righties: .204 BA, .268 OBP, L10 vs. Righties: .213 BA, .302 OBP. STL just went off on Perez with the long ball Tuesday but Weaver allows 1HR/11.57 IP so should do better job keeping the ball in the yard. Tonight's umpire is 2-1 UNDER in Weaver games and 2-0 UNDER in Marquis games.
