Clemson down by 20 with 3 minutes to go as a 16 pt dog. They have the ball at mid-field, 4th and 2, and Bowden PUNTS so Virginia can run out the clock. Give me any logical reason for this other than he is aware of the spread and is throwing the game

Absolutely a MORON. Defenitely didn't want a cover. NObody punts down 20 at the 40 with 3 minutes left. Hes a scumbag. Once again obvious moves makes one wonder why he did that?? Was he afraid of losing by 27,lol, yeah right. Hell personally I thought Virginia jumped offsides on that punt anyway. Bowden-:finger:

I was doing a bit of channel surfing and watched that game for a few minutes and I'm still shaking my head over what happened. As ppeter mentioned, it was fourth down and about two yards to go. Why would you punt in that spot?

Clemsons Defense was like two different units in the first half and the second half. Did Groh make that many adjustments or was it in the cards according to Bowden not to cover. No passes down field at all. WTF, lets keep trying to gain 3 yards per play. What about that pass interference in the endzone, come on that was a bullshit call IMO. They would've kicked the FG cause it would've been 4th down and they would've covered. Refs helped them cover and Bowden sealed the deal.

I might lose alot of money but I can't wait till Virginia plays Florida State. State will Spank them all over the field. Give me 10 dimes on Florida State when they play. I don't even think Virginia is a top 10 team IMO.

I don't think it was fixed at all...very strange call though, this is two straight games I have watched Clemson literally give up and punt on 4th down when the other team would have just ran it if they got it back...

My only guess with Bowden's reasoning is he doesn't want to risk injury of any key players... I was thinking he may punt because in the back of my mind I remembered the FSU game when he punted, but when they got so close I was shocked when I saw the offense leave...

Its a tough one when your getting 15-16 and your up 10-3 after one and get killed from then on...

I very rarely ever believe in the fix, unless it's boxing. But this game kinda struck me as strange. I'm talking about the line Virginia being more than a two touchdown favorite. I would have thought maybe 10 or 11 points---so I left it alone.

I thought Va would win and probably easily--but the number just hit me as wrong!

Down by 20 with 3 minutes to go, the Coach felt the game was over, therefore he punted...

i had uva but i agree u have to go for it, it sends a bad message to ur team that you're a bunch of quiters. i've seen teams that were down by as much and had longer to go and were at their own 20 or less and went for it. gotta fight till the end!!!!!

He quit on his team. His team will quit on him. Take Utah State and the points.

I respectfully DISAGREE...3 TD's would have won the game for them. They were 60 yds away (1 play) away from TD #1. It is a real long shot, but definitely POSSIBLE they could have done two onside kicks and scores in the the last 3 minutes (see COLTS last year on MNF).

There is no doubt in my mind Bowden either 1) quit or 2) threw the game.

Tommy better make his money fixing games now, because he sure as hell ain't going to make any $ as a head coach next year. If he were a cat I think last nights game was his 9th life.

Anyone in the S.C. area reading anything in the press about Bowden explaining his actions? True, it would have been a million to one shot they could have won the game (or a 50/50 chance they could have backdoored for their backers, including the Clemson alums and boosters), but why give up that chance without trying?
