Schilling is money and the Yankees have struggled in opening games BUT I have to bite on the value presented by this play. Mussina in SEP was 3-1, 2.14 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, & a .216 BAA. He followed that up with an impressive start versus MIN in the LDS. He has only allowed 2 HR in his last 28 IP at home. One of his home SEP starts was versus BOS - 7 IP, 1 ER, 8K. Mussina is 8-2 at home in 2004. Here are career numbers for Boston's lineup versus Mussina (this is also a major factor in my UNDER play) -

Damon: 18/75 (.240) 1 HR
Bellhorn: 3-9 1 HR
Ramirez: 15/74 (.203) 5 HR
Ortiz: 2/29 (.069)
Nixon: 11/57 1 HR
Millar: 8/23 (.348) 1 HR

TO ALL...Mussina lost game one v twins as a dog....Santana did not have his best stuff in first career playoff start..sox much better hitting line-up than twins..i'll take my chances with an absolute bulldog pitcher in the playoffs..remember Schill in his last div series and world series with ariz?? a truly great big game pitcher!!...anyone feel bookmakers are wrong having sox as solid fav in alcs..i'm looking at it as a bit of an opinionated line???...think i'm wrong??..do you think they EVER have had a problem getting people to throw money at the yankees in the playoffs.....we'll see...BOL to all...DANO

TREEZ....I was pointing to this as acase like like last night when i saw in hilton contest 50 or 60 people picked GB and only 9 picked TENN...also saw lots of posters picking GB..line never moved....now i see on consensus picks players..public?? on yanks...yes someone is playing sox but who??....and by no means am i saying YOUR pick is the wrong side...this is just my take....DANO

FWIW - All 4 consensus sights I frequent have the Red Sox, 2 of them substantially. That does not make me feel good about the play however as the public has been winning in the playoffs with all the overs & favorites.

Mussina is pitching at too high of a level to be catching +130 at home with the Yankees lineup for me not to take the value.

B&G...My bad!! went to wagerline myself...saw something like150-120..thought they were playing Yanks...must be a little foggy this morning..just went back...you are correct.....as a sox fan i'm so use to seeing everyone picking yanks over the sox....BOL and thanks..DANO

Do the bookies know that Schilling won't toss a meatball to Arod in the first inning, with Jeter on base for a 2 - 0 Yank lead and a Yankee victory?

Do they know Manny will hit a home run or get a hit with men in scoring position?

DO they know if Moose will pitch the game of his career?

DO they know if Sheffield will hit one 420 ft for a 1 - 0 victory?

Too many questions to say it's the stupidest bet in the world. Schilling can pitch a gem and still lose. The value is on the Yankees; the game is a HUGE toss up either way, hence the play is the Yanks.

I agree 100%.
If you would have takin the dog in the Yanks/Sox games over the last 2 years you would have made a killing.

And betting on the away favorite at Yankee stadium and laying 140 to make a 100.You really should look into another hobby,but continue to take the short bus to school.
