DougJ- I've wondered the same thing myself. Personally, I think it's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in a ballpark. It's actually a huge safety issue and an accident wating to happen.

The other thing I've never understood is whose moronic idea was it to put that strip of dirt running from the pitcher's mound to home plate in some ballparks. It looks so stupid.

the hill is there because many parks in the olden days had them. this is an attempt at " old style" features they stick in the new parks.

that whole stadium is an embarrasment. it got trains in it and crap. it looks like miniature baseball

You'd be shocked if you looked at some of the old dimensions these old time parks had...Inclines near the fences, ridiculously short left and right field lines...Some of these parks were very bizarre, yet unique and fascinating all at the same time...

I have studied these old stadiums and i find it quite interesting...

Lots of good websites if you're interested Doug.

there was one old park ( I cannot recall which, I will look it up) it had a unique incline at the right field fence that caused many balls to leap up over the wall, causing many ground rule doubles.

How about giving your best player Steroids so that he can become a muscle bound freak and hit 73 home runs in a season when he has never hit 50 in any other season? I guess steroids are OK - but a freaking hill isn't? hypocrite!
