5 Units on New York Yankees U 8½ -120 (Schilling - R, Mussina - R)

TONIGHT'S 5-UNIT REDZONE BEST BET: I will get to a 32-8 system that has hit 80-PERCENT in the playoffs since 1997 in a moment. As you all know, both the Red Sox and Yankees are tremendous OFFENSIVE squads, so we are NOT going to have many low posted totals such as this one in the American League Championship series. I will tell you right off the bat that the Red Sox had better get a stellar outing on the mound from Curt Schilling, because their dynamic offense hit a severe road block AT Yankee Stadium this season. Following some in-depth research, I found that Boston as a team hit a massive .322 versus New York at HOME, but that figure spiraled down to just .212 AT Yankee Stadium. This is scary but Boston catcher Jason Varitek has ZERO hits this season in the House that Ruth built (0-for-34)!!! On the other side of the equation, the red-hot hitting Derek Jeter batted an awful .200 this season against Boston pitching. Why are the Red Sox a heavy favorite tonight on the "side"? The reason is Curt Schilling who has been brilliant in his NINE career POSTSEASON starts, permitting 2-or-LESS earned runs in all NINE appearances with the D-Backs and Phillies. Of course, there have been many questions regarding the overall HEALTH of the Yankees starting pitching staff. The bottom line is that tonight's starter, Mike Mussina, is the ONLY healthy New York starter so I am expecting the Moose to pitch a gem. It was just 3 years ago in a memorable game at Boston's Fenway Park that Mussina came within ONE out of a PERFECT game. After spending a ton of time on the disabled list, Mussina has been his old dominating self down the stretch. New York is slated to go with Jon Leiber and Kevin Brown in games 2 and 3 with BOTH pitchers suffering from back injuries. In the fourth game, the Yankees have the option of Orlando Hernandez (sore shoulder) or Javier Vazquez (EIGHT ERA since All Star break). Now you know why I love the UNDER this evening in the ONLY pitching matchup of this series that will feature 2 healthy starters, even though Schilling has had ankle issues to deal with. Dating back to 1997, Schilling is 9-1 UNDER/ROAD versus top-level teams like the Yanx, as he gets pumped up at the prospect of facing quality teams on the road. Mike Mussina is a dazzling 11-3 UNDER since 1997 when pitching in the "money time" of October (2.82 career ERA against Red Sox). Now here is the PLAYOFF SYSTEM that is 32-8 since 1997 (80%): you play teams like Boston UNDER a total of 7-to-8' in a PLAYOFF game, following at least 3 consecutive wins. Bingo!

GOOD LUCK
