Team of the week format like in baseball would be great. It's easier to administer than having to sift through all those picks every day, it requires a lot of skill and foresight, and it's exciting as hell. Only drawback -- doesn't produce ATS picks which is a good by-product in these contests.
make it like a poker tournament.
everyone gets 10,000 or so in chips ..make 5 picks along with your bet. the winner takes the pot or gets split in tie. minimum bet of 200 or so or no bet at all if you choose not to make picks that night
if player A bets 3,000 and goes 5-0
and player B bets 5,000 and goes 4-1 then player A gets his 3,000 back + 3000 from player B and any other players who bet that night. the extra 2000 are returned to player B just like in real poker.
only differences is you dont have to match the highest bet and there would be no blinds. but itd be cool becuase you can knock players out and keep going until guy at end has most chips or there is just 1 player left, with each player leaving having a respective postion (robfunk leaves in 9th, posterABC leaves in 8th) if multiple players go out on the same night then the record they had for that day determines who finished higher. wed have a daily chip count just like at the world series of poker when they take a break in between days
there would be no YTD standings just the chip total with yesterdays results.
5 games a day there could be more there could be less i dont know the paramaters could be changed, but it was just the thought. I like the idea of knocking people out and when you hit 0 youre all done rather than having negative running numbers. the field is usually so huge in these things to begin with.
you could have monthly winners if neccary by looking at the chip count from 1st of nov and 1st of dec etc etc
at first I was thinking its a problem if other people see what youre doing, but not if you dont have to match the max bet. you are more less just trying to have the best possible night or 'hand' possible and back it up with how much you are willing to risk.
itd be cool " i won last night" then you check the standings the next day and you see you have more chips and some guys got knocked out with their finish position next to them etc etc

I like the old format we have used in the past.
A designated RX mod pastes and posts lines from a designated books "early lines".
Everyone that is in the contest must choose from the posted lines before gametime and post in the same thread.
Put a cap on max and min plays for the season all games count as one unit, most units end of season wins
