I’ll let you in on a little secret: I hate the Red Sox. The Yankees have been my favorite team since Reggie Jackson was the “Straw that stirs the drink”. So you can understand how it pains me anytime I have to use this team.

Tonight is one of those nights though as the struggling Kevin Brown takes the hill for the Yankees. Brown handcuffed the Twins in the LDS for 6 innings allowing only 1 run on 8 hits but a couple of starts prior to that one was on this very field where he never made it out of the 1st inning while giving up 4 runs on 6 hits.

NY has dropped 6 of Brown’s last 8 starts overall and they are 0-3 with the right-hander against Boston this season.

The Red Sox have been the exact opposite with tonight’s starter, the cornrow wearing Bronson Arroyo. They are 4-0 with the righty against the Yankees this season giving him a ton of support. Arroyo has posted a 5.25 ERA in those 4 starts.

Arroyo picked up a ND in his team’s finale of their 3-game sweep against the Angels. He worked 6 innings and gave up 2 runs on only 3 hits. In fact, the Red Sox have won 10 straight with Arroyo and they’re 10-2 with him vs. the division.
