During the All-Star break I did exhaustive research as I do every year on possible future plays. I noticed that the Astro's had an incredibly soft schedule the last 6 weeks of the season. While almost all pundits had written them off I realized they were only 3 1/2 games out of the Wild Card at the Break. Kent and Bagwell weren't hitting and Roy Oswalts W-L record was not in line with his WHIP. I surmised if Bagwell and Kent started hitting and Oswalt started winning the Astros were set up for a great run. 3 months later they are on the cusp of the World Series. I hammered the Astros to win the NL at 30-1. Three Days AFTER the 2nd half started they started putting out a Wild Card line. I nailed the Astro's at 30-1 for this also as the beauty of the Wild Card bet was that unlike SF, SD, LA, Atl and Philly the Astro's couldnt possibly win their division and screw it up. They were way too far back.

I re-itterate all this because at the time I posted on this forum a thread with the heading "Are the Astros REALLY dead" and no one responded. I mean nobody. I even re-posted it twice because I REALLY wanted some feedback and still nothing. People read it but almost nobody commented and there was no real imput.

All you people out there slave over the daily grind and day to day trials and tribulations of gambling yet never even think about futures where there is vasts amount of money to win. Not to mention for those of you problem gamblers out there think of it this way. One bet lasts all year. You can live and die each day with your team without losing all that money. I love to play and do on a limited basis but for me I'll take some good research and a wise futures play everytime.

And for those of you who think this was a fluke here are some others Ive gotten mid-season or after the season started and made lots of money on......

2001 Colarado Avs at 4-1 to win the Stanley Cup with 2 months left in the season and the best record in hockey.

2001 Arizona DiamondBacks at 7-1 to win the NL in AUGUST

2002 Detroit Red Wings to win the Stanley Cup at 5/2 in January

2002 NJ Nets at 40-1 to win the East after they started 9-1 with some new point guard named Jason Kidd

2003 Washington Capitals at 66-1 to win the Eastern conference (why do I mention this bet ? Simple, when they went up 2-0 on TB in 1st round of playoffs I hedged on TB at 5-1 series odds for a hefty profit)

And this year its the Houston Astros..........

Pay attention to the futures and you will reap the profits.

For anyone who doubts me Peep can back me up as me and my friends were the ones who put TSB out of business with the NJ Nets.
