The odds for the Sox to win the series is +350, while the odds to win today is +120.

If I play $100 today, I will make it $220 tomorrow and would need a dog line (+104) to make the $220 into $450.

If the Sox win tonight (which I think they will) will they be a dog tomorrow? I really doubt it.

The sox would be heavy dogs in my estimation. -155/145 or something.

Even with the money on the Yanks today?

If the Yanks lose today, the Yankee backers might be a little gunshy - and the way the line has moved, there are people really pounding the Yanks hard.

I realize that the early movement isn't a result of major pounding, but will Yankee backers who have lost three straight be willing to go against the momentum? I need to decide whether to take the +350 or the +120, and can't think straight. Damn.

NEW YORK (AP) Tim Wakefield was still slated to start Game 7 of the AL championship series Wednesday night for the Boston Red Sox, assuming they don't need the knuckleballer to get there.

Wakefield was the No. 4 starter for the division series against Anaheim, which Boston won in three. He was also scheduled to start the fourth game of the ALCS, but he was needed in Game 3 when the New York Yankees scored 19 runs.

Then he threw the final three innings of Game 5, getting the win in Boston's 14-inning, 5-4 victory on Monday night. But before Game 6 manager Terry Francona said he was still planning to give Wakefield his first start of the playoffs in the decisive seventh game.

Starters Bronson Arroyo and Derek Lowe would be available to help a bullpen that has been taxed by consecutive games that combined for 26 innings.

''They're beat. The whole group,'' Francona said. ''And they all keep wanting the ball.''

Yankees manager Joe Torre wouldn't address a potential starter for Wednesday, preferring to believe that the series would end in six games.

''We're not talking about Game 7,'' Torre said.
