this "god bless america" during the 7th inning stretch is just out of place and takes away from the excitement and flow of the game in my opinion.

Whats REALLY sad is a ton of New Yorkers and Philadelphians do not think the USA exists outside their state.........or some instances, their own city.

VERY SAD!

Having said that, have no problem with the God Bless America hymm being sung during the 7th inning stretch, but would not at all be saddened to see it abolished either.

GO USA!

I'd rather listen to SWEET CAROLINE, played in the 8th inning at Fenway Park...:)

Fishhead,

While I was at all 3 games at Fenway, the fans really got into this song each time it was sung...

I have been saying the same thing for a while now...it was a classy gesture (PR stunt) after 9/11...but isn't the praise America thing covered with the star spangled banner...i am hear to watch a baseball game not listen to songs singing every inning...next thing u know we will be singing "Oh beautiful" in between the 4th innning

Playing national anthems and such at sporting events is the dumbest thing ever. Abolish them all. At the olympics or an international event I can understand it, but what's the point of playing the national anthem at a baseball game? It's just stupid. When did club sports trun into a patriotic endeavour?

I don't remember it being sung before 911, but maybe I've forgotten.

I don't even like the Cubs--take me out to the ball game song.
You wouldn't think the sponsers care much for it either as they could feed us more of their tired old ads.

Guys... be careful what you wish for too...

Have you seen what's happened to the NFL and NBA? It's a damn circus now. I don't like GBA during the 7th inning stretch either...but it's better than some idiot coming out on the field and rapping (NFL). Or some no-talent lip-syncher doing their latest "hit"

More American ra ra, flag waving and chest pounding. Who can get too much of that. It's all part of you brain washing. It's a huge part of what makes you guys so blindly patriotic and comical to the rest of the world. You get told and say things enough times you actually start to believe it.

whoson 1st - surely the Cubs are not the only teams that sing Take Me out to the Ballgame for 7th inning stretch.

I grew up in NY, and I can swear the organ always played TMOTTB for 7th inning stretch - Ebbetts Field, Polo Grounds, Yankee stadium and Shea, all of them.

Cubs (and before that White Sox) got famous for Harry C leading the song.
