bill what geogre will do this winter is going to be a joke.this maybe the year were baseball finally dies in alot of smaller markets.the fans here will demand this guy bring in every star he can get his hands on.i think the yankees payroll will reach 220-240 million.baseball will suffer because this guy lost this way.imo

I don't buy it anymore. He can dish out over $100 million to the other clubs, that ought to serve him right. It still doesn't guarantee a championship as they have proven last few years. George's ordering Cashman to make the trades mean they have zippo in the minors and will just have to spend ever more to keep up. Still with all the money look what they got. Miguel Cairo as their second baseman. Rueben Sierra as their best bat off the bench most nights. John Olerud, who couldn't even cut it on one of the worst teams in the game was asked to be a big contributor. Of course add in a mediocre staff and middle relief. He can spend $250 mil, I don't think it assures anything other than fat checks to the Royals and Pirates.
