Agreed. This is a high value play due to the extremely juiced total line, 11 runs. Each team needs to score at least 6 runs to cover this line. Clearly this is a public line, playing off the perception that two nasty offenses are set to do battle, in hitter friendly Fenway Park, with Tim Wakefield on the mound. However trends are in play that favor the under. Walt Williams pitched a shut out game over 7 innings in his last playoff outing. So he’s very sharp. BoSox bats are bound to still be hung over from the 5 game marathon & huge partying that followed. Williams is set to shut down Sox bats. On the other side, one may think that Cards have a big edge here. False. There are few knuckeballers that play in the National League. Cards’ lack of play against the knuckleball is going to be a disadvantage. I expect they’re gonna look like jackasses flailing away at Wakefield’s flying meatballs. Also both teams sport decent pens. Last, both teams offenses are likely to be tight, because it will be a chilly night & the first game of the World Series. Neither team has played in the World Series spotlight with their current rosters. Batters will be more anxious at the plate, afraid to make mistakes, & the outs should flow easily on both sides.
