Shotgun,

Why Don't You Come Up With Your Reasons For Red Sox Besides They Are Going To Pound Cardinals Dude! I Don't Dislike The Red Sox And Were Quite Happy The Beat Yanks And Even Predicted Them To Play The Cards In Ws But Unfortunately In A Very Offensive Tight Series, Cards Will Pull It Out.

Oh Yea, Cardinals Record Vs American League This Year 11-1 And Yes The Best In Baseball. Out

How about this reason.

All of the bullshit stats you just listed are absolutely meaningless.

What should I say?

Should I make believe that something that happened over 37 years ago makes a s h i t of difference in determining the outcome of this series?

With all due respect, the Red Sox are the pick.

The Cardinals did not play well after the first two games against the Astros.

The Red Sox are firing on all cylinders right now.

Those are enough reasons to take the Sox.

Due to Boston's Better Starting Pitching: I would make them about a 1.20 favorite. The line is too high to bet Boston.

Beware

I just can't believe Boston is favored in this Series. People have been saying the same thing about the Cardinals all year. Their pitching won't hold up, they're not as good as their record. Fade the Cardinals. That theory has gone to hell so far in these playoffs. This team has been the best and most consistent team all season. Period. Their pitching, collectively, is very solid. Their lineup is the best in baseball. Their defense is the best in baseball. There is no logical reason to believe the Cardinals are not going to play their best. No reason at all, other than complete denial. I'm a die-hard Cardinals fan, and I've been watching this team all year. They are pretty damn good, almost every game. They compete like champions. They won't sweep, but I've got a lot of money on them, and I'm not hedging. My pick is the Cards in 6. Feel free to bet against them, but you're taking a big risk. I like the Red Sox, but they are going down.

The bottom line is you have 2 teams that are very capable of winning. Past history is now meaningless. It will boil down to who gets the 2 out hits with runners in scoring position. A little luck would not be a bad thing either.

Why not?

Perhaps you have forgotten how well St. Louis fared on the Road against Houston?

Perhaps you have forgotten that during the Final Two Months in Baseball, The Red Sox were the better team?

Perhaps you have forgotten who has Home Field Advantage and that a 2-3-2 format makes it almost impossible to SWEEP 3 games at Home?

Perhaps you forgot that The Red Sox just completed the most monumental comeback in the history of the game and falling short at this point would mean failure to them?

Perhaps you forgot that St. Louis is also responsible for a couple of their tragic losses in the World Series so why not a Yankee/Cardinal exacta box to help make up for the past?

And lastly, perhaps you forgot that the Cardinals Pitching Staff is mediocre at best and their relief pitching has not been all that good in the Post Season?

And on and on and on...

Delmo, you're right. I have to give the Red Sox a lot of credit too, and they are capable of winning also. I'm biased towards the Cardinals, obviously, but this should be a pick-em series, in my opinion. How one team is -160 is beyond me.

The line is EXACTLY where it should be IMO. I've got this 60/40 Red Sox so + or -150 is "fair value". Don't see any value in series price at all. I think the series goes at least 6, if not 7. Homefield for Boston is a major factor in this series given the Cards home/road disparity. If Cards had homefield I'd have made the line only Boston -120. How healthy Schilling really is will be a major factor in the series.

that's true but, i think the offense the cards have is just as good as boston's. also, the bullpens may make the difference and the cards clearly have the edge here. schilling's health will be a huge factor. if he is not right, i can see the cards in 5 or 6 games.
