this is the email I sent......

Senator Lugar.....

I am a devoted Republican, and a rarity in this society, I VOTE....

I like many other americans DO enjoy gambling with my recreational money, the money I EARN....I feel that is my right....I enjoy our local riverboat, which brings alot of money into our state, i enjoy Ellis Park racetrack (although) considered Kentucky owned, i occasionally play the lottery, and i enjoy playing poker online.......

When i heard of the attachment to the 9/11 bill, trying to prohibit all online gambling, and heard it passed 68-0, i was EXTREMELY upset......As an American, i feel i have a right to spend my money as i wish......I do not need the government telling me how to do so.....That is the main reason i consider myself Republican, we tend to believe the individual is better served making their own decisions, rather than the government holding their hand constantly.....

I will be very upset if this bill passes, and the government once again tells me how i can spend MY MONEY.....i am not hurting anyone, i play from my home, and i dont go around breaking the law..........How would i be harming anyone?

I certainly hope you and your counterparts look closer at this, before blindly signing this bill, and the ATTACHMENTS.......

I also think it is a disgrace for this ammendment to be attached to AN IMPORTANT BILL, such as this......There is no proof the 2 things have any link, and it seems as if it is trying to be SNUCK in the vote........

I will be watching closely to see what happens, and hope that MY SENATOR votes for MY interest..........

Sincerely

this is the response i got.....

Dear XXXX:

Thank you for sharing with me your opposition to legislation that would prohibit gambling via the Internet.

I supported legislation to establish a national commission to conduct a review of the social and economic impact of gambling in America. The National Gambling Impact Study Commission issued its final report, which includes a review of Internet gambling. Members of Congress are likely to take this report into consideration while reviewing legislation that would prohibit or restrict gambling operators from using the Internet to conduct wagering activities. While no legislation is up for imminent consideration, I remain concerned about the interstate and international implications of Internet gambling.

Should the Senate take up a bill on this issue, I will listen closely to debate among my colleagues and review the Committee reports. Again, thank you for contacting me.

Sincerely,
A

somewhat of a "generic" response, however it appears nothing will be done "real soon", which is good news.....anytime they are waiting for more info, or debate, is good for us.....:discuss:

The person who sent you the following enclosed email about gambling is not only a compulsive gambler, but gambles illegally on the internet. He also runs illegal gambling contests and is a paid moderator at an illegal gambling site called therx.com. I also doubt he pays taxes on his salary he receives from illegal sportsbook. This is where he posted his email to you and your response.

What you should do as Senator is not give people like him a free pass but crack down on his activities. There is a cesspool of illegal activity going on at places like the RX and nobody is doing anything to stop them. People are getting scammed left and right and nothing is being done.

Please pass some kind of legislation with teeth that will put these kind of crooks and scoundrels like this person in prison, not give them a free pass on their illegal activities

Thank you.<!-- / message --><!-- / message -->
