Joe Torre showed a ton of class imho atfer the Yanks' brutal loss to the Red Sox in game 7 of the ALCS. Torre cited Tim Wakefield during his season-ending press conference, saying it's the flipside to the Yankees' disappointment that someone like the 38-year-old veteran gets a taste of the World Series. He said after walking off the field last year with diginity when he gave up series winning homer Wakefield deserves to start game one.
"It means a lot that Joe would actually mention my name in his interview when they were packing up going home," Wakefield said. "I have a lot of respect for that man over there."

the yanks gave me a numerous reasons to respect them after this series. bucky throwing first pitch and sticking henry in the ruth box are just part of the deal. when it was over with the things the yankee orginazation have done and said make me respect them much more. it was just blinded from the one sidedness before, i guess
