Pursuant ONLY to the recommendation of Major Wager and the $1000 post-up guarantee purportedly backed by Major Wager, my partner and I enrolled with Players Sports Book and Bet Jockey(their racebook) in October of this year and already we are a victims of larceny.

On October 23, 2004, we played a Pick 4 @ Santa Anita Races 7-10 with the following horses:
R7: 3,4,5
R8: 4,5,7,8
R9: 1,2,6,7
R10: 2,3,4,6,10,13

The ticket was a $1 pick four with a total risk of $288. The ticket won and paid $2785.70 for EACH $1. These facts are indisputable.
Unfortunately, Players Sports Book is of the postion that the maximum payout on the ticket is $300! As you know, this is absurd as our cost basis was $288 and 300-1 equates to over $86K in total exposure for the sportsbook. Obviously, we did not win $86K. However, we did win $2785.70 minus the $288 bet amount for a total payout due us in the amount of $2497.70.

After numerous attempts to explain to Players SB that a $1 Pick Four that costs $288 pays more than $300 to no avail, we are left with no alternative but to enlist the help of this forum with this matter.

Morevoer, everyone at the facility was rude and unprofessional. They were argumentative and confrontational when we attempted to explain that they were illogical and their conclusions are inconsistent with the gambling industry. Further, no one would ever play a Pick 4 ticket for a total loss exposure of $288 only in hopes to receive back $300! a Net win of $12?? NO Chance anyone would ever agree to that type of wager. The fact of the matter remains if we had lost, they would have deducted $288; not $1. Therefore, the base calculation amount is not $1, but $288 for their projected maximum payout of 300-1. In this scenario (1=288) It is remedial mathmatics and EVERYONE of the clerks, managers (Carina), and Owner (Rich) disagreed and refused to honor our winning ticket. This is unacceptable and demand is made for full payout of our ticket.

Oct. 23, 2004 Santa Anita Pick 4
R7: 3,4,5
R8: 4,5,7,8
R9: 1,2,6,7
R10: 2,3,4,6,10,13

$1 winning ticket pays $2785.70

Obviously, we would highly recommend that anyone playing with this uninformed group of purported Sportsbook operators, Immediately CASH OUT and hope that you receive your money. We have made demand to the ownership has refused to engage in any discussion whatsoever. Therefore, we can only assume that they would rather litigate this matter via the gambling forums.

Your dead wrong Buck

Why in the world are you betting Pick 4's and playing offshore??

Play onshore and you get paid no matter what the payout is

Tough luck guy but a bad move on your part

I think they are treating it as 288 seperate $1 bets, each of which can pay a max of $300.

Good luck, I don't think you will get paid more than $300. Expensive lesson.

Kidslick,

Irrespective of a fine print written rule, it is not right nor is that fact that they misrepresent that they accept horse plays. To suggest that 300-1 is an acceptable payout on a Pick 4 is absurd. The ticket costs more than the payout, they are a joke.

We will see about their payouts. Just because you got your payout, certainly does not justify this license to steal.

Tough luck on this one I feel for you and your frustration. I’m sure you did not know that they had this rule or you did not understand what it meant. you might have thought the basis for the 300-1 was the total risk factor you had on the race, the $288, or something incorrect like that. Its going to be hard for you because many will come yelling at you that you were not smart to do this, a fool not to ready the rules, a fool to play at such and such a place, dumb to play a pick 4 off shore. very few will pick you up and say bad beat on your end, expensive lesson move on. For sure try to get a dialog with the sportsbook and a mods help just to see if there is some small help that can be offered. I would suggest stopping now any attacks on this sportsbook stop that right away. Then asking/negotiating with the book to allow you track odds on all Pick 4's over the next 14 days. They would be foolish not to do that seeing the tickets you put in and it gives you a shot to get a nice hit from them with no pari mutual or taxes.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

YEP--

You simply made 288 $1 bets for a Pick 4 that pays no more than 300-1...

Nice job there blaming a book who has their payouts right in front of you.

Blame who you must , but that was a dumb move on your part--learn from it and get to the TRACK next time !!

I almost did what Buck did. I was putting in a tri for a friend at a book. Before I put it in I thought, "I better read the rules just in case they have a max payout". They did and I did not place the bet. If I had made the bet and it hit, who would have I blamed for my stupidity? Ask Buck, he will tell you.

Pinnacle pays Pick 4s

Buck,
If you're a serious pick 4 player, you should consider moving your action over to Pinnacle. They do have a cap on the maximum winning per track ($25,000 or $50,000 profit depending on the track). Plus a 7% rebate to start. That may get trimmed depending on your action. I can attest to their paying out since I hit the Pick 4 at Woodbine for just a shade over $1000. It won't help you with your current problem, but hopefully it will down the road, especially with the BC coming and juicy Pick4 payoffs beckoning.

300-1 on pick 4's??? Why even book it at those odds? Four dead favorites in medium size fields will pay $300 for a dollar. Tough lesson buck but a rule is a rule I guess. I would think 1000-1 is very reasonable for the player & the book on pick 4's

They have scammed you but what are you doing betting with them with such rules in the first place?

what if you had more combinations and had staked over $300 - you'd be guaranteed to lose.

The first rule that i learnt about gambling was "IF you can't win you can't lose" meaning if you can't profit from the bet you shouldn't be allowed to lose. Betting with such rules is a vilation of these princples but unfortunately you shouldn't bet such stupid bets with these rogues.

To play anywhere but Pinnacle for Horses is pure lunacy. They are so good it hurts when it comes to their horse book.

Real horse players (pros) play onshore period

Perhaps when places such as Racing Services Inc. in North Dakota existed which gave players HUGE rebates (more like the 15% range at some tracks, NYRA and KY circuit lower) but a LOT of players have been recruited offshore, some of those by companies and tracks in the US with rebate shops operating offshore.

I'm just curious to experience my first Pinnacle BC. I can hardly wait to see the horse matchups.
