1. They cant run

2. Both are the best pure passers of their time

3. Both go overboard in calling out their recievers during the game

4. Although pending..... both may not win a SuperBowl

I feel for THE GENERAL, as he is a diehard Colts and Manning fan, but the truth is this guy may not have what it takes to take his team to the next level.

The next level has nothing to do with Manning. It has to do with Polian somehow and someway finding a secondary that wants "the damn ball".

Im a big Marino fan....my fav athlete growing up. Now when he did get to the Super Bowl he was beat by Montana. Manning has to get by the "Montana" of his time in Tom Brady.

i wouldnt say Marino was overrated...he is still in the top 5 of all time, people just remember the later years but he was awesome.

Having MARINO listed as a TOP 5 QB would lead me to say he is overrated.

GREAT PASSER, not a top 5 QB in my mind.

Marino had average leadership ability and absoluetly no running ability.

Might make my top 20 of overall quarterbacks, but not certain.

i think a running game and some defense would have you seeing things different. Also look at some of his best recievers.....Duper, Clayton, Mcduffie...not exactly dominant. Playing in the Bills 4 Super Bowl era didnt help him either.

Key stat for me is ZERO Superbowl wins between the two of them. Disliked Marino but loathe Manning and his serious Tourette's problem. Really, does all that gesticulating, pointing and twitching do anything but look stupid? Once the triplets-lite get broken up due to free agency, then we'll see how good Manning is when he doesn't have a running game or Marvin to throw to.

Interesting Logan. Take away James and Harrison. Walters, Stokely, Wayne, Rhoades, Mungro, Clark, Pollard, Manning and a very good O line. I wonder if they had those guys and bought a defense what would happen. All the pointing and twitchinig is generating 400 yds per game.

BTW, Local news has said that as far as James and Harrison, they can afford. I wonder about James going to Miami. I would like to see that to free some cash, but James is really looking good, the O line is getting him the holes. He is a strong runner. To bad about the knee. He has made a great comeback though.

And I dont know why peyton had to have all that cash. Half of that to the defense could have been huge.

Fishhead I couldn't agree with you more and have been saying it for years. marino is the most overrated Superstar in Football that I can remember. Gig games this dude would throw picks at the worst time and then blame everyone else. I wouldn't put him in my top 15. As far as Manning is concerned I'll wait for final judgement. But he does throw picks in big games

I think many have the same perception as we do.
