2 Units on St Louis Cardinals U 9½

Let me begin with a dynamic 33-8 SYSTEM that has hit at an 80-PERCENT clip in the month of October dating all the way back to 1997. The system says you play VISITING teams like Boston UNDER a total of 8'-to-10 after at least 3 consecutive wins in the month of OCTOBER. Of course, the Red Sox come into tonight having won 6 postseason games in a row. I want you all to know that Jeff Suppan pitched for Boston, so he is FAMILIAR with the powerful Red Sox line-up. The bottom line is that Suppan brings more EXPERIENCE to the table than any other St. Louis hurler. Suppan has been a CLUTCH pitcher for the Cardinals as he was the starter in the determing games of both the Divisional and the League Championship series. So far in the postseason, Suppan has gone 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA, limiting opponents' to a paltry .154 batting average. At this point, you must be wondering why the posted total is so high this evening. The reason is because Pedro Martinez is NO LONGER the dominant pitcher that he was for so many years for the Red Sox. So far in this particular postseason, Pedro has a lofty ERA of 5.40 in 4 appearances. He has given up 20 hits, 12 earned runs and 11 WALKS so far in the playoffs. Of course, that is far from the Martinez we all have been used to. Back in 2000, he had the incredible 1.74 ERA and only 32 walks. Th fact of the matter is that Pedro has been struggling to hit his spots that he used to drill in effortless fashion. The scary thing about Martinez, who has only ONE win in his last 7 starts, has been the sudden lack of control. So far in the playoffs, he has averaged 18 TOTAL PITCHES PER INNING. Bascially, Martinez has been reaching his pitch count by about the FOURTH inning which is unheard of for him. So why am I predicting that he is going to pitch a gem tonight, as well as Suppan??? First of all, Pedro will be facing someone other than the Yankees who has NOT seen all that much of him. Remember, he has made 20-PLUS starts in the past 3 seasons against teams from the AMERICAN League, not the senior circuit. Another important fact to consider is that Pedro is pitching for SELF ESTEEM tonight and for his countrymen who will be watching TV in the Dominican Republic. He has ONE game tonight to remind everyone, including the Boston organization, that he can still pitch as well as anyone. Basically, Pedro Martinez tonight is pitching for a CONTRACT for next season, as the Red Sox most likely will NOT re-sign him. Yes, there is a distinct possibility that we are seeing Pedro in a Boston uniform for the FINAL time this evening in what shapes up as a rare pitcher's duel in this high scoring World Series. By the way, Jeff Suppan is a dazzling 6-1 UNDER after giving up 1-or-LESS earned runs in his prior outing!

GOOD LUCK
