One tiny example........the Red Sox would be 10 games out with 30 games to go and I would still live and die on every pitch/game thinking they could win the division and win it all.
I have been a RED SOX fan for 37 years(44 now), and EVERY year have suffered heartbreaks on NUMEROUS times throughout ALL those years..............if you only knew.
The RED SOX could be 12 games out with 23 to play and I would go outside in IOWA to sit in my car to listen to the game on the radio(better reception in car even though full of static), and listen to the likes of Ernie Harwell in Detroit, Bob Ueker in MIL, Herb Carneal in Minn, White in KC, Harry in CHI, CLE, TEX, and others.

I only bring that up because I remember that play and that moment so clearly..All franchises go through their ups and downs..just like the SOX..I only refer to one mans plight because its been so well documented..As a athlete myself, I cant imagine the heartbreak of a error like that..With a series win, I believe Buckner will have a more peaceful existence..
