In all due respect, this is not 1918. In my opinion, current form is a very important element when handicapping any event. Remember, this particular Cardinal team has not been down 2-0 in the post season. They won the first games of each series at home, not coming home down 2-0. Last night, they had a very tired Curt Schilling, at times vulnerable, but did not take advantage of him. Because of his seasoning and ability to make the right pitch at the right time, he was able to get out some of the best hitters the Cardinals have except Pujols who is very special. Pedro is fresh and certainly as seasoned and although not as good as he was last year, is still very focused and capable of making quality pitches. The Yankees face him so many times they know how to hit against him. The Cardinals don't see him and therefore will have greater difficulty. The must win scenario, in my opinion, is overrated and can be costly. That being said, once again, I reiterate that in any game, anything can happen and if the Cardinals win, so be it. My main point here is that I personally do not feel that this particular play warrants a "large" play. I have seen many, many better opportunities then this particular game. This is just a regular play for me. Nothing more, nothing less. If I win, it's just another win. If I lose, it's just another loss. No big deal either way. I will congratulate those that have the Cardinals now should they win and congratulate those that have the Sox now should they win. Best of luck to all.

oldmanTed,

I took the liberty of starting this new thread with a post of yours from a couple of days ago...

You nailed it and deserve a response from me. I congratulate you for this post which ended up causing me to bet less on the Cards...

I started a new thread because I believe it would have been lost in the large thread where Fishhead and I posted our sorry ass losing pick...

This is one reason why I LOVE the forums...

Thanks again,

Fishhead,Shrink- You guys just dont get it.

OMT doesnt need to be congratulated on his pick.It was a small play for him.The reason he posted,IMO,was just to let everyone Know, that you guys are just blowing smoke, touting a play as "your largest play of the year",when in fact this can not be labeled this in any way.He wanted to protect some of the rookies, new gamblers from falling for the trap that you guys set.

Now, the day after, your both backing off your stance of "the biggest play of the year" to Fishhead claiming he was rooting for Boston all along.(Even though it was a large, large, play)

OMT's name tag reads Professional at all times
Shrinks & Fisheads should read DUMB & DUMBER

GREENHEAD,

Don't tell me whether I can congratulate someone or not! Since OMT stated, "I will congratulate those that have the Cardinals now should they win and congratulate those that have the Sox now should they win. Best of luck to all," I felt tipping my hat off to oldmanTed was the RIGHT thing for ME to do!

At no time have I ever backed down from the fact that this was a STRONG play for me and personally, and I resent you twisting my words to serve your own agenda...

I lost 6KKKKK on this F%&CKING GAME and shared my LOSING TICKET for all to see!!! :(

Could Fishhead and I presented our pick more Professionally?

Absolutely YES....

I believe I already stated this elsewhere and when I do give out what I believe to be another strong play, it won't be done in a "teasing" and "provocative" style.

I guess I deserved the final result and by all means, if you feel like rubbing it in, go for it......

Just don't tell me what I can or cannot say, ok?

Greenhead,

It is really not YOUR place to decide whether OMT deserves to be congratulated. Once again, you are missing MY whole point of this thread which was to focus on something POSITIVE that he did for me and others...

In the many years that this site has been in operation, I have witnessed many posters come and go. It appears the ones who last longer have a vested interest in helping others and not jumping down someone's throat because they chose the wrong side of a ballgame...

But please feel free to continue piling on.

I have nothing left to say to you and I won't respond further because I guess I am too dumb...:neenee:

Shrinky: Bottomline, Pedro should have been laying 40 cents and me grabbing him along with some astute others at plus 30 was a bargin. All that ment was that you and Fishy lost on your selection......................so what.
I'll say it, keep posting your opinions in here as we all respect your posts.

That being said, I say we take Greenland, Greenhead whatever out back....................................

Amusing to see how THE SHRINKS saying take KERRY at +216 gets slighted...............or his many high percentage winners in college foots and baskets.

class act by the shrink in my opinion.....old man ted is probably one of the better cappers on this site, along with shrink, fish, bigbet1234,kodiak777 is having a good year, all info on this site is valuable information...it's what we as INDIVIDUALS do with the info we gather that seems to be the topic here...ME, MYSELF,and I make the final decision on how much to lay on any game.....if you bet a large amount on someone else's opinion and lose...go look in the mirror and jump down your own throat be cause it is nobody's fault but your own...you have the loaded gun but it's up to you to pull the trigger....i just like busting their chops a little bit....LET IT GO IT WAS ONE GAME...make your own decision tonight and get your money back....thanks for the time...jeffksu....:kicking:

I think oldmanTED knows my respect for him from a couple situational email exchanges. I would be very disappointed for him not to accept the congrats and continue to share his insight here. I respect him for his rational posting and gentlemanly behavior. And I enjoy learning from him.

Ted probably has not read the forum today. I know that he has not felt the greatest lately and is taking this week off from football. He takes off for the Breeders Cup this week each year..

Appreciate the congratulations but completely unnecessary. More importantly, I am pleased to hear you reduced your play as well and saved some money. Futhermore, if my comments somehow helped others either by reducing their own play, passing the game entirely, or choosing to play the Sox, then that is enough satisfaction for me. I have been at this business for a very, very long time, and there isn't much I haven't seen or experienced and thus, I treat triumph and defeat just the same. There shall be no gloating from here, as for some, last night may have been costly. My sharing has always been to help and teach whenever possible. Better luck to you in the future.
