He's coming back because he's a sure thing. They can't go wrong hiring Spurrier back even if he fails. At least the administration keep their respective jobs.

They roll the dice on someone like Meyer and it doesn't work out...they're gone.

Of course... Spurrier can just go to Miami...but I don't see Miami paying Washington to have him as a coach. Can't imagine the Dolphin fans would be to thrilled with him anyway.

GO GATORS.

But why is it necessary for them to call new clients within minutes of signup (they called me in less than 5 minutes...at 9:30 at night)

Love the prop, I like Meyer instead, but why the gouge on the spread 1.50 on a -5.00 is a real steep vig??

Probably throwing your money away if you go against Spurrier. of course I would never suggest anyone lay -500 on anything...

I've been following the Gators my entire life though...and it doesn't seem likely they're going to take anyone but Spurrier. It's up to him of course as I said...but the pressure from the Boosters is great.

The problem right now is the president. He seems to have veto power in this situation.... or he seems to have given it to himself in this case. He seems to not care that Spurrier is interested at this point because he wants to interview at least Meyer. He'll probably ink a pretty sweet deal for him too and with the wait Spurrier may just say "screw you guys...." If ANYONE is likely to say "Take me now or never" it's Spurrier.... We know that from his history.

He will figure he has earned the right to walk back in and take the job now...

And as a life-long gator I'll be the first one there to meet them at the door :D

No offense to Zook... he's going to be a hell of a d1 coach... Just wasn't not at UF.

Great info World Runner. What is your feeling about the team in general. I heard the players and the AD are just done with each other. Morale could not be lower. Situation with Zook, an excellent recruiter, and the players loyal to him blew up with booster pressure to bounce him Monday. What is your impression?

As far as the bet, not going to sit on a -5.00-1 or the scalped dog until 2005. Bad enough I had to wait months for Shaq trade at -3.00-1. I need some action at WWTS to complete rollover requirements. But that will not be it. :neenee:

Zook got Leak, Crowder, their 2 headed half-back machine and a few wide-outs that will be superstars to all buy into him. Now that he's gone the team has a hard time they'll be able to play without him. Thing that gets me is how they're all upset that he's being fired...but where were they when lowly Mississippi State were running through their arm tackles. And where were they when they droped a late leadto Miami last year...and to Tennessee and LSU this year....and the two big 10 teams that embarassed them in bowl games.

I think they'll rally around Spurrier and all the hoopla that his return will mean. These young players have no idea what it's like to play in the real swamp...back when the fans were nuts and the stadium was the loudest in the country (Fact.) Those days will return with Spurrier.
