voters in nebraska soundly defeated a casino gambling measure. they also
narrowly defeated two other measures regarding gambling, including one that would have paved the way for two casinos in omaha. that's good news for iowa especially, since many gamblers in omaha, cross the missouri river and go to three casinos in council bluffs, iowa. also good news for other surrounding states with casinos.

All three gambling measures in Iowa were defeated by a good margin. The most notable is probably Dallas County.

As a native IOWAN, I am smiling from ear to ear on this one.

When will Nebraska wake-up and smell the beans?

WOW!

it will be interesting to see how many new casino licenses will be approved by
the iowa racing and gaming commission. i think six counties have approved
gambling measures. i think fort dodge has the best chance, but wouldn't be
surprised to see several other licenses approved. i live in carroll, iowa. it's about 90 miles to any casino now.

They need to upgrade prairie meadows (Which they are) to include table games and what not.

Slots and horses aren't worth going for... Good to know they're going to include table games there soon.

FORT DODGE will be a goldmine!

A location that desperately needs a casino.

have to agree totally with fort dodge as a goldmine. plus the upgrade at prairie meadows will increase traffic there. i wonder if the anti-gambling forces in the three counties that defeated yesterday's measues, were influenced at all by those with prairie meadows interests

World Runner - How is the Jordon Creek Mall doing so far? I was back there in July, that was all I heard on the news. Im originally from Urbandale. I used to be a Prairie Meadows regular myself, quite a change that place has made.

It's been done for a few months now... The place isn't exciting for someone like myself. I don't shop in shopping malls. We've gone to the theater a few times but they don't have matine prices during the weekend...

The reastaurants they put out there are all garbage. PF Changs and Joes Crab Shack to name two. Complete crap. But being in a suburb I've accepted the fact that most everything is going to be a chain. I think Des Moines has more restaurants per capita than any city in the US LOL
