Biggest year of my 30 plus years of gambling and I'm actually thinking about shutting it down until next season and taking my profits. The question is will I be able to stop, because I have never been able to in the past.

Believe it or not, one of the most common mistakes that gamblers make goes against what some might consider to be "conventional wisdom."

All to often, when a gambler hits a WINNING STREAK such as the one you are on, they quit too soon. The Professionals I know all agree that it is important to MAXIMIZE these WINNING streaks when they do come in order to thwart of the many times gamblers lose...

So rather than quit, I strongly recommend playing until you see the streak start to turn around...

That's when you may want to consider taking time off...

i use the kelly staking system with a rolling bankroll - when I'm on a hot streak it is all too easy to alter your estimated odds from 5/2 to 3/1 knowing full well that the bet would be bigger than you feel comfortable with.

it envariably is the wrong thing to do - sticking with the formula that got you there in the first place is the best policy.

If you are serious about shutting down, cash out your bankroll and put it into a 6 month CD. You will have to prematurely cash the CD with a big penalty if you cash it before it matures. That should give you the incentive to stay away. Also, go on a vacation to someplace OTHER THAN VEGAS for a week or so. Visit a relative that doesn't gamble. Go camping where there is no TV. Go to a foreign country. Any of those should give you a "break" so you are not Jonesing to play. You will also feel out of touch with foots when you get back since you will have an information gap.
