For years and years now we have credit cards and I can remember during the old days that my father would always say: "We as clients pay for the credit card charges, because merchants have to raise their prices". In those days typical commissions to the credit card companies would be around 4-5%. A lot has changed since then and charges are now about 1%, which many bars and restaurants are more than willing to pay to avoid large sums of cash, however here in Asia where margins sometimes can be very small some merchants will still charge customers more on credit card payments.

Neteller does charge 4% on deposits. As clients we are seeing more often the -105 or like with Mansion -102.50 on the European football, so these charges do not seem to have an effect on what the books offer us, but it must cost them!

For those books that still make a profit on their Neteller customers how much of that actually ends up in Neteller's pockets?

Not specifically Neteller, but I seem to remember Hayden of wsex say that their transaction costs amounted to 1% of total handle.

So if they made 5% profit on turnover that would mean 20% of profit goes on transaction costs. Hmm??
